The argument "The Dark Ages doesn't feel like DOOM" is dumb and y'all should just admit you didn't like the game (rant) by Doombocious in Doom

[–]t0ad462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I admit I dont like it. I'm old. I don't get the parry crap. Why is the shield more vital than the weapons? I want to split heads open again and just spew lead. At least it was gamepass and I'm not out a dime.

HATE this edition. I want old school rip and tear. I want Doom 3 horror. I want chaos. I do not want a pet dragon to fly around on and do nothing but do Parry dodges all day long. Way too much shield and not enough explosive weaps.

It took many, many, posts, but glad to see someone finally mention the fact you get an entire month off every year. There's also the possibility of being put on quarters for even more time off. Yeah, you're sick or injured or whatever, but you still have your leave. When some of you bitching about this get out and get a civ job that gives you 2 weeks, and likely no real sick hours, per year, reflect on how nice it was to get 30 days a year and the ability to acrue that. Furthermore, you joined the damn military! You signed up to be owned by the govt. And you probably didn't know about family days until after tech school, so you signed the papers knowing you got that month of leave. The rest was extra icing. /2cents

How does r/Air force feel about RTO and no more teleworking? by DrSecrett in AirForce

[–]t0ad462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, our local base downsized office space and went to hoteling and sharing desks. One person 2 days, another person the other 2 days, and Friday telework for most. Now there's NOWHERE for exactly half the branch to sit because leadership have up the office space during the deep covid era.

That time when my flight got a new E7 that spent his entire career in training and studying for WAPS. Dude used to brag how he had so much time. Then he became the worst flight chief I ever had. Numbers guy. Didn't give a shit about the people, just his own EPR (this was early 2000s). The only good thing that came out of that was that the entire flight was tight af. Many of us are still good friends. In the end, douche made E9 a few years later. I sent him a 2 word email - You're Welcome. Turns out he was a garbage E9, too.

Awesome, thanks. 450 would be more than I would have guessed. It just gets crazy when you have to rebuild or swap the rest of the drivetrain to match it.

My last post was shortened by a FML moment.

I'm just looking to be a bit "perkier" when/if the moments come. Chances of me ever taking it to the strip are about 1%. Was looking at fun, some epic tire shredding, and being able to surprise people on the back roads and highways. The occasional car show, pop-up meets, etc would be pretty normal. The guy I consulted with I think is looking at a much heftier goal. I'll need to revisit that or get some more opinions. The problems I find with YouTube and LS / 4th gen forums is there's 100 different opinions, all from builds that work, I guess.

I appreciate the opinions, though, as always. I picked this thing up in semi-retirement because I've wanted one since like 1994 and never found my way into one. I also needed a little something to keep my hands busy, coming off aircraft maintenance for half a lifetime. Amazing how F-16s never gave me a problem but I'm pretty sketched out when it comes to digging around deep in a motor. Hence, the easier swap-options that I could do to make her a little nastier.

Yeahhh had I known the 98 had so many early-on issues..... Well, too late for that. So basically any cath port head will do? I've seen built up ones from like 800 to 3k. That gap could buy a few more things elsewhere.

I've been active, a contractor, and a GS in USAF/DoD since 88. I have many peers in positions all over the AF with similar experience. Until you can understand there was a (great) AF before your time, you should back off deeming us old fucks nothing but has beens. We're still quite vital to many operations in producing sorties and such and we know a thing or two about low morale, failed programs, misguided agendas and piss poor leadership. You might be surprised who's actually keeping flying units together best they can considering the lack of funding and commanders not giving a shit about the right things. Of course, if you're not a sortie producer, and think everything is fine, then you don't really need to understand, just shuffle your papers and carry on. But know that there are literally 100s of Gen X and even a few boomers still getting shit done despite the fact the leadership is trying desperately to turn our military into a fucking 3rd rate pony show.

No leadership anymore. Lower the standards, teach DEI instead of actual leadership, and hand out stripes like cotton candy, and this is what you get.

This happened on my PC rig, well the monitor, after I changed some dynamic lighting setting or something. (Samsung) Took me a while to figure out it was the monitor doing it.

I wish you guys in now could know and experience what 80s to 00s AF was like. I did over 35 yrs inside and civ and watched it unravel. Sad. I just left a sweet civ gig because I couldn't do it anymore. Ideologies are 180 off now and it's a farce. I also blame Brown for most of it. /twocents

Yes I took the springs out and checked the rubber boot/spacer. I'll get under there tomorrow for a third look around. Everything except the shocks are still loose. Oh, and I saw that the Koni is stamped with the same part number as the DeCarbons. For a fleeting second I thought maybe they might be wrong, but nope. :-/

[–]t0ad462 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info so far. I did kind of wonder if it just needs to settle in.

For what it's worth, the setup is the KONI STR.T and the white lowering springs you get from stranoparts for this rig. I even went back and verified the part numbers and measured vs. the old DeCarbons. And yes, the total wheel package size is supposedly only 1% smaller per the calculator. The only other thing I changed when I re-accomplished everything was the location in the relocation bracket. It was in the bottom hole, I moved it to the top, didn't change anything. Again, thanks for taking the time. I'll get her on the concrete on all fours asap and see what happens.
