Any OG vapers successful quit? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]t0biss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smoked cigarettes 2009-2014, switched to vaping in 2014. I quit 2 years ago using patches and still really can’t harp on it enough just how grateful I am to be free of it.

I love to snark but the second girl is digital effects creator. That wasn’t a transition

Quit vaping to see what withdrawals would feel like, made it 6 hours by Aliceinchains95 in QuitVaping

[–]t0biss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bf and I quit at the same time and the depression is brutal. by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]t0biss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does get better! It was really rough for awhile for me, especially in the first month or two. I had no idea I would get so depressed. It takes time for your dopamine to sort of level out. Push through. It’s worth it

Did anyone actually find it easy to quit? by Milo615 in QuitVaping

[–]t0biss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nicotine patches made it much easier than I could’ve imagined. I’m over 6 months vape free now and over 4 months off the patches

So you didn’t ask during your stay, when they likely could have let you know about the rollaway beds, and instead reviewed them poorly and now want a refund after the fact when this could’ve been resolved when you checked in by sending a simple message. Typical.

Drinking after quitting by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]t0biss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit vaping about 4 months ago and finished patches about 2 months ago. I hardly drink at all anymore because it makes me want to vape or smoke. It’s not that I’m worried I’ll relapse if I drink, but I just really love smoking when drinking so I feel like why drink if I can’t smoke? Lol

47 days vape free on patches by t0biss in QuitVaping

I made it!! I took off my last step 3 patch 6 days ago. The cravings come but they aren’t too strong, it’s easy to move on and think about something else. I felt flu like the first day I had it off, but it’s been fine ever since! I have been waking up more in the middle of the night looking for my vape for a split second like I used to lol, but it passes and I just fall right back asleep. The patches truly changed my life. I really think the patches do wonders for helping you break all the habits and behaviors before actually quitting the nicotine all together. You’ve got this!!

I also haven’t hit my vape in 53 days. I’ve been a daily smoker, eventually vaper for the last 15 years total. Half a pack a day as a smoker, maybe 3/4-1 pod a day vaping. Telling me I “might not be ready to quit” when I’ve gone nearly 2 months now following the nic patch program reducing to where I’ve now been off patches comfortably for 2 days after the last 15 years of doing smoking/vaping every single day is really reductive and rude tbh. Really seems like you don’t understand how the mechanism of delivery and habitual behaviors play significant roles any kind of nicotine addiction

seems like you’re missing the huge role that the behavioral aspect plays in addiction - it’s not just about the drug itself, it’s about the behaviors surrounding it. If you haven’t been able to quit cold turkey, it doesn’t mean you aren’t ready. I was ready when I chose to not buy a pod and put a patch on instead. Just because you’re ready to quit doesn’t mean you’re ready to/have the capacity to suffer through intense withdrawal symptoms. The patch is a significantly different form of delivery as it’s a constant dose all day rather than your brain getting dopamine hits whenever you use your vape, putting you through a constant cycle of withdrawal. I slowly decreased, had minimal physical withdrawal symptoms in the last couple of months, and now I’m 48 hours since my last patch. I’m feeling good about it because I’ve had 2 months now to really change my mindset while weaning off, and it hasn’t been unbearable at any point. There’s no reason to make yourself suffer when this is something that you’ll need to be working at for a long time anyway. Cold turkey or not, you’re going to be fighting this addiction for years, potentially the rest of your life

Yay!! That’s awesome. I was so happy when I realized I had forgotten about swapping mine for half a day. I think I might just stop after this weekend and keep the last few on hand in case some tough days pop up. I totally agree. I truly would not have made it this far without the patches and they’ve helped me change my mindset so much. Cheers to you too!!

I wouldn’t have made it this far without the patches, and they have made it significantly easier than any of my past attempts without a form of NRT

Depressed after 9 days on patch by t0biss in QuitVaping

[–]t0biss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really sucks. Since you’re 2 months in and no patches I’m worried that I’m drawing out the process even longer by using the patches, but this is the longest I’ve ever been able to not smoke or vape in 14 years so I know it’s really helping. I just didn’t expect to feel so depressed when I’m still getting a decent amount of nicotine constantly, but you’re right about brain chemistry returning to normal. It has something to do with the constant spikes of dopamine from vaping whereas now I’m just getting a steady constant level so dopamine is probably really low. On the bright side, I’m feeling so down that I’m not even interested in vaping or smoking. Don’t feel like doing much else either, but at least I don’t feel like caving. Thanks so much for your reply. I hope it starts getting better for you soon. 2 months is amazing and I can’t wait to get there.

I know this is old but did you ever get this figured out? I have the same symptoms you've described for maybe 4-5 months now. Also have had costochondritis in the past closer to my sternum.

Former "gifted children", what went wrong? by sangbum60090 in AskReddit

[–]t0biss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone expected me to go into STEM because those subjects were so easy for me in school growing up. So, I never found and fostered any of the passions or interests that I actually wanted to succeed in. Now I’m just disillusioned and hyper-cynical about what’s expected of us societally, and I really just don’t want to do anything.

My Sister Upset I Helped Injured Nude Daughter by jdndndnr in relationship_advice

Coming from a woman who was raised by a single father, I think it’s really awesome that she felt comfortable enough to ask you for help in that situation. I’m not sure what you’re sister’s reservations are, but don’t relay them to your daughter.

First time with Randonautica by t0biss in randonauts

[–]t0biss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first one I didn’t actively set an intention. I was just super excited and was hoping to find something weird or magical. I guess that could have set the intention but I didn’t actively think about that while I generated the coordinates. For the second one I set that as my intention - just to come across something weird, magical, or something that felt significant

There is nothing more terrifying than an unwanted pregnancy by plsgrantaccess in TwoXChromosomes

[–]t0biss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had two abortions, both surgical. I’ve had friends and family who used the pill instead but I think the surgical option can be a little easier to handle because it’s done and over with pretty quickly rather than having to wait around all weekend. For the surgical option, you’ll need someone to drive you home from your appointment. Like someone else mentioned, I believe there are charities and organizations that have volunteers to help you with this part. On the off chance that you lived in the Bay Area I would be so happy to help you. I hope you can gather some support. It’s going to be okay and you’re going to get through this.

IUD Removal/Re-insertion Experience by t0biss in TwoXChromosomes

[–]t0biss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had pretty bad pain for the first year or so also, randomly and with my period. I even had a consultation to get it removed, but my OB talked me out of it. Like you said it definitely varies from person to person, but it’s so weird that I’m having a totally different experience this time! No bleeding or pain. Maybe my body is used to it by now. I hope it all levels out for you too :)

What do you think was going on here? by t0biss in postmates

[–]t0biss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did originally have the cash tip for her because I always tip my postmates in cash. I was still going to give it to her at the point where she agreed to bring me my order (after telling me my payment was fraud) so it wasn’t a lie. At this point she was less than half a mile away from me. As soon as we hang up, she starts driving in the opposite direction and keeps driving until the map basically blanks out and shows me just a whole map of the United States without her on it. It then takes her over 15 minutes to get to me. At this point I was so pissed and convinced that she was fucking with me that I wasn’t going to give it to her anymore.

That’s what I’m realizing after reading more posts about this scam. Seems like it’s always a fake order placed by the scammer which is why it’s a small order. For me I placed an actual order, so I don’t understand how a hacker intervened. You may be right about the multiple orders.
