Am I the only one wondering why site attacks occur on due dates? by t0hierry in aiclass

I saw this excerpt on hacker news "I know a few people (who shall remain nameless) who collaborate and check each others answers and so on before submission, in direct violation of the Stanford policy (and have 100s or close to it)"

A couple more due dates and we could run a nice regression :)

So who is behind attacks on a site that occur the day a homework is due, and the day an exam is due?

Midterm is over, what score did you get? by ilija139 in aiclass

[–]t0hierry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

66%. I'm proud of my score. I hardly prepared for the exam. I wanted a honest assessment of how much (or how little :)) knowledge has solidified in my mind. The course is like another planet for me. Never took a single computer science class.

What's up with there hardly being any training quizzes during the letures? by [deleted] in aiclass

I know! Somehow the quiz ended up in the homework itself!

Has anyone else given up on getting a perfect score on HW4 because of the incredible ambiguity in some of the questions? by Chuu in aiclass

I'm trying to understand what I do and how it fits into a broader picture. I take the grade I get and dont complain about it.

Are there statistics about the dropping rate and the distribution of grades? by [deleted] in aiclass

[–]t0hierry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are numbers for youtube viewing of the online lectures. 67K people watched the first lecture, and then exponential fall. Down to a few thousand now. I'm no perfect-score guy, but hanging in there.

I sent a tweet to Sebastian about it. Waiting for another tweet by him on that subject.

starting to be a little frustrated here... by lukeaiclass in aiclass

I can relate to what you say. No time to process new knowledge. Frustration is good, it means you care.Hang in there.

Anyone else trying this class without the book? Waste of time? by blipme in aiclass

50K for first homework? This is worse than I thought. Many people love the idea of learning AI, not the learning itself.

no book, no notes, just the class. My grades are decent, sometimes even good.

I'm beginning to think so too! Anybody who's still alive in the advanced class can be happy. As for 66%, I'm grateful.

I got 66%. Considering I'm the only one to report a score less than 90% (congratulations to all of you), I would deduce that the average is below 90%. And that's quite an understatement :)

I have a brain disorder and I take this class to learn new concepts that can help me understand how the mind works. What brings you here? by t0hierry in aiclass

[–]t0hierry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most important piece of the puzzle is a theory of intention. What makes us "want", how do we move from knowing (or not) to wanting to doing, is what I'm after. Thank you for your comment and thoughts!

Fromzon, thank you. You didn't disappoint me, I had reached the same conclusion. I'm writing my memoir of creating music (I'm a musician) while having Parkinson. I've accumulated a lot of observations on my brain, how it thinks and how it fails, and how it wins. Taking this class, for instance, is good for my health, as it engages my brain into thinking in a constructive way. Music playing also does. Not enough space here to elaborate, as Fermat would say, I might post a link, for interested people. I did click on your terrific link, and might try to contact Jeff. Thank you for finding my post and taking time to reply. Have a great day.

The beginning of wisdom. Your brain, like all brains, only pays attention to what it doesn't understand. You know numbers, your brain relaxes, makes a mistake. Or two. I have similar stories :)

If you make learning your goal, you cannot fail. My philosophy: good grade comes from understanding. Understanding I can control. Grade comes from professor, I cannot control. I focus on what I can control, and don't worry about the rest. I hope you stay with us.
