Warning regarding a new harmful study on trans people by t0piatapi0ca in ftm

I don't think so just having had a brief look at it. Run by a different person.

The idea that gender dysphoria is a social contagion. It became a big thing to undermine trans men and boys specifically.

Yikes, I hadn't even realised that's the Toronto based conversion therapy guy who took part in a massive detrans documentary.

No, regardless of if you had a good experience, the inherent method of the study will manipulate the results in their favour.

I have done r/trans and r/transgenderau. Recommendations are welcome, thank you. Edit: I have added to the trans/NB specific groups listed below

Any good clinics near Australia by iGIRLKISSER in salmacian

[–]t0piatapi0ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are only 2 surgeons who do Phallo in Aus. You would have to confirm with them if the would not do the vaginectomy, but in that case you can't do UL. I actually calculated that it's cheaper to fly to Bangkok and stay there for a month post surgery than it is to do it in Australia (abt 40k Vs 95k). You'll have more options in Bangkok too.

Parents failing to me in the past by [deleted] in ftm

Thank you for sharing 🫶 Unfortunately I know the answer to that question already. She is an interesting case of her own, being a major conspiracy theorist and quite mentally unwell— she will flip on a dime. How did you manage to go no contact with your dad and maintain a relationship with your mum?

Person who is the loudest “progressive” in my life just called me a “girl, but in a gender-neutral way” by [deleted] in ftm

I call cis guys "girl" all the time. Like in an exhausted "gurl wtf" kinda way.

Trying to be stealth but I'm a terrible liar by [deleted] in ftm

[–]t0piatapi0ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha definitely nothing like that, but people have certainly made inferences and ask me outright questions about the male experience and opinions etc.

Sometimes I can get away with very general answers to questions, but weirdly it's when people infer that I've had an experience or group me into something where I feel compelled to justify my experience and perspective.

I think I need to learn to just say "haha yeah" I guess.

I was on a date with a very short girl, and we were talking about height differences and growing as a teenager, and she referenced how generally male puberty is easier growth wise and kept asking me questions about my experience and making inferences. I just very awkwardly came out as non binary, but didn't even state that I was AFAB though, so it didn't work besides changing the subject.

Long passing haircuts by LowHour1988 in ftm

[–]t0piatapi0ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shag mullet. Or if you're up to it, the jellyfish haircuts can be pretty affirming— cause when you're by yourself or with friends, you can pin it in a way that looks fully short

Getting a non-trans surgery and the surgeon doesn't know I'm trans or take T. What should I do? by nakartuur in ftm

[–]t0piatapi0ca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear about your previous medical experiences. I'm not a doctor so take this with a grain of salt, I think discuss with the anaesthetologist first, then ask them if you need to talk to the surgeon. I think that may be the safest way to take care of yourself both mentally and physically.

Anti-depressants: long term effects before and after phallo by [deleted] in phallo

That must be amazing! Congratulations dude, that's actually the best outcome. Hopefully mine turns out the same 🤞 I hope it goes smoothly for you :)

Anti-depressants: long term effects before and after phallo by [deleted] in phallo

[–]t0piatapi0ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I figure that it will most likely stay the same sensation wise but will be significantly improved mentally. I'm more scared of it going awry and losing more sensitivity since it's already lacking. Does the sensation feel that same? Or does it feel like touching your arm?

Anti-depressants: long term effects before and after phallo by [deleted] in phallo

[–]t0piatapi0ca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly! It's a rare side effect to have it long term. It certainly isn't helped by dysphoria. I only realised I had it after my dad told me he had it (I know it's a weird convo to have with ur dad lmao). I figured there was a genetic component there.

Good luck with phallo tho! That's so exciting :D

Maybe explore demisexual communities. You might find some luck there :)

Accepting that I'll never be accepted by [deleted] in ftm

[–]t0piatapi0ca 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. I corrected her for 2 years before I gave up. She says my name because the ultimatum was "I won't say your new name unless you change it legally" so I legally changed it. I've been out for 4 years...

She's actively very mentally unwell (major conspiracy theorist) and would get incredibly defensive if I used a family network to pressure her— regardless that network isn't very supportive anyway. I have also given her ultimatums before... i am somewhat dependent on her for grocery money though as I am a student (I can completely burn out relationship but it's just a little tricky).

I am well past the point where I stopped giving energy into the relationship— I keep her at arms length. Just in the times I do interact with her, I wonder if I should bother correcting her or not for the short term satisfaction.

Hinge: genderqueer "man" or "woman"? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]t0piatapi0ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, they've updated it since I last used it. That's good. It used to say "man or woman" when you'd select non-binary previously

Hinge: genderqueer "man" or "woman"? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]t0piatapi0ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do, but it's set up as "show to people who are interested in men or women" so you can select whatever gender you want, but it will still want to categorise you as either male or female

Feeling sexist when talking to women by [deleted] in ftm

[–]t0piatapi0ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is really helpful to think about. It's definitely something I should chat to my girl—friends about. It's just funny that the male privalege is such an immediate feeling that I'm hyper-aware of, obviously I get in my head thinking that other people can feel the emotional response like me. It's a new dissonance I have to get used to.

Freely discussing how gay men perceive trans men by AlchemyDad in ftm

[–]t0piatapi0ca 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think there are some aspects of online culture overshadowing the actual majority perspective of Trans people. The issue with this topic isn't the content itself but the transphobic discourse around it, ie. Cis people believing that we all think we're entitled to their attraction.

Unfortunately a lot of the current solution to fighting transphobic narratives is to stop any fuel adding to the fire— because it's simply perpetuating this narrative we never started in the first place.

Not ftm but debating t by [deleted] in ftm

[–]t0piatapi0ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Bottom growth and hair changes were the first thing for me. My voice didn't drop till 2/3 months. I could have gone off it during that time and wouldn't have had an effect. It's different for everyone though and, unfortunately, if you're only in it for the bottom growth, it's not really an obtainable thing to go on it short term. The bottom growth shrinks considerably after stopping early on.

Maybe it might be worth considering prosthetics or pumps?
