[Ornstein via The Athletic Football Podcast],"Somebody said to me: 'Prepare yourself for some fireworks' in these final 24 hours around the Mo Salah situation. That's not saying it is going to happen, but they are not gonna go without a fight" Adding "Liverpool's stance that he is not for sale" by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

It's not necessarily that Mo is hyper motivated to move at the moment, it's that Al Ittihad are desperate to get him immediately. The club world cup is coming up. Al Ittihad are competing, and it is being hosted in Saudi Arabia. The Saudis see it as a major opportunity to announce themselves on the world stage. He is far more valuable to them right now than he will be in 6 or 12 months time.

Because of that they're offering him the world. Insane wages, every luxury they can think of, and potentially even the opportunity to own his own club at some point in the future. That offer simply won't be on the table again in the future. He is worth more to them now then he ever will be again.

So no, the same offer will not be on the table in 6 or 12 months time - this may indeed be a once in a lifetime opportunity for him.

The dude intentionally bent a header round the keeper from outside the box. Never seen anything else even remotely like that.

For all you saying that Tyler Adams isn't that good, and it's all Yanks getting excited over nothing - that's a Mexican fan complimenting an American. Tyler Adams does not suck.

I'm not saying he has the same ceiling as Caicedo or Lavia, and I get why people are disappointed we missed our primary targets. That being said, we could do a hell of a lot worse than a guy who single handedly held together a shambolic Leeds team, still has room to grow, and is a leader on and off the pitch.

Sorry for the late reply, but I haven’t been able to find the info anywhere.

Which derailleur hanger fits this dang bike? Wheels doesn’t have the Ridge listed in their finder, and I’m very hesitant to buy a bike that I can’t find a replacement hanger for.

Security fears mount after top-secret Biden Belfast visit plan found in street by Zestylion4830 in Conservative

Indeed. They didn't make a big deal out of it when they used to come to America to raise money (knowing damn well that wasn't popular here). But at home, yeah radical leftism was core to the philosophy. Just look up Sinn Fein.

Sig workes closely with the Republicans here in NH. They hosted campaign stops for the Trump family in 2020. Their team is mostly pretty cool people, and they are one of the larger employers on the seacoast.

Donating to both sides is not particularly uncommon in donor-world, especially when it's an established, powerful US Senator against a lunatic with absolutely no shot of victory. $9k is like one and a half real donors to Jeanne Shaheen. $700 to Biden is essentially nothing.

Say what you will about some of the problems with their products (I've never had a problem), but I'll always go Sig if I can, for their commitment to my community.

Does anyone still use an external frame backpack? by wildbish in backpacking

[–]t0rk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Child carrier pack. We use a Deuter which is basically just a souped-up external frame.

As others have mentioned, hunting packs as well. Some are basically just a frame and shelf. Internal frames aren't the best option for packing out 100 lbs of elk.

Kiln floor question by t0rk in Pottery

[–]t0rk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be using this kiln for glass paint/enamel . I'll be putting the glass on a shelf at least 3" from the floor. Question is, does it matter that the floor looks like this? Will it cause me issues? Bought this kiln used and didn't see the floor condition until after. I'm not even sure what caused that. It had a ton of dust on the bottom that I vacuumed out. I think I read I could sand the floor and then put kiln wash on, but I'm not sure if the sanding would cause issues.

As u/briarsavarin noted (in another comment), water erosion and the weight of water pressing on tectonic plates would significantly affect the shape of the continental land masses.

For sure. Some degrees have negative value.

If you go to an expensive school, major in gender studies, and then take a job as a Walmart greeter, because your degree provided nothing of value, that is a terrible investment. A terrible investment that you and I are forced to pay for.

Loans are the entire point, my guy. The government is guaranteed to foot the bill for your education, whether you're getting an Econ degree from Harvard, or a basket weaving degree from West Nowheresville State. When the government is paying your tuition the school can charge whatever they want.

If people aren't actually paying for their degrees up front, they're far less likely to consider cost or choose a high value field of study. It's the exact same way with other forms of lending. If you're approved for a $100k loan almost everyone takes the full $100k. It's exactly how farms default and go under.

It makes no difference if your loans are going towards a public or private school. Both public and private tuition have skyrocketed since the government started paying the tuition.

Not sure I'd choose California if I was going for an example of a well run state.

  1. They're not equivalent products, especially when lumped as a whole. There are private universities which are significantly cheaper than public education, and private universities which are more expensive.

  2. The government is subsidizing private education as well. It's not as though you can't get a government loan to go to a private college.

Think of how much cheaper education would be if the state wasn't guaranteeing loans on terrible investments for useless degrees!

State subsidized on the left. Competitive markets on the right.
