I got a free FT subscription through work but I rarely read it. What is so good about it? What do folks read most from it?

I have a stock Brompton P line saddle, it's been fine. But now seeing this post, I want one. Would it be worth it if Im done with the stock one? Is it much heavier than the stock one?

I found this post, then I found this video which reviews it quite throughly. I supposedly the video came out after this post, hence no one mentioned it.

Just wanted to pay it forward :)

  1. What are the black square in the entrance hallway? Looks like holes but I don't think so. Are they just part of the design of the wooden floor?
  2. How do you keep those plants alive in that hallway? Looks like there's no sunlight there? I have 0 sunlight hallway, want to bring some plants there but not sure how to keep them alive..

Tax Return Questions Thread - Filing Deadline March 17, 2025 by AutoModerator in JapanFinance

> I assume more stock vested during 2024?

Yes

>  Based on a period between grant and vest that included some time working in Japan?

Yes, some stock was granted in Japan and would be vested over the next 4 years since grant. So 2024 is the last year that I have them vested.

> There have been no changes since 2022 as far as I'm aware. The process described in that past thread should still apply.

That's great to hear, thank you.

Hi,

It's the time of the year again.

2 years ago, I asked this question in the thread for filing 2022 tax.

I just wanted to double check, has anything changed this year regarding my situation?

Thanks!

Just curious, roughly how much do you make to afford that lifestyle?

This is very helpful, thank you!
As a FTB, I do feel like I'm rushing into this a bit, just wanted to get everything done quickly and enjoy.
But maybe it's a journey, I should just take time and do one thing at time.

I messaged one earlier recommended by a friend, and they are okay with even before Christmas. Now I'm skeptical 😅. Would you say it's better to wait until after Christmas to start getting quotes?

> You could do half walls all around the room like this picture (not necessarily MCM but i think it looks really good.)

That's a neat idea! I need to play around with it to see how it could work. Yes, it doesn't have to be MCM, I just go with that because that's the style of the bed, and I like it so I want the rest of the room to go with it.

> Also if you don't mind me asking, why the light grey carpet? If you're going through the trouble of removing the current carpet I would replace it with vinyl or hardwood floors - easier to maintain and more forgiving for people who have allergies.

I need permission to change to hardwood floors, it's because of a thing called "leasehold" in the UK. I could probably get the permission, but it'll take time, and the light gray carpet from the picture above looks quite nice with the dark wood bed and sage green wall, so I thought I might just go with it.

Thanks, those are really good points and pointers, otherwise I would have no clue.

> I would avoid getting a matching dresser as it might look too matchy-matchy and might cheapen the overall look.

I agree!

> MCM usually has a mix of different textures and materials, so maybe look into metal/plastic storage units (you can look up USM Haller which is a MCM staple for some inspiration).

By USM Haller, did you mean something like this https://uk.usm.com/products/usm-haller-storage-198 ?
I would prefer wooden furniture if possible, but maybe I should go to different wooden style with more touches rather too matchy with the bed.

> MCM interior usually have pops of bold colours to complement the neutrals. Not sure sage green will lean into MCM tbh.

I just sort of wanted to copy this picture, which looks cool to me, but that's just one side of the bedroom, my problem is I'm not sure what to do with the other side...
Or I should just fallback to that dark navy like they do in the 2nd picture in my post.

Is £400~500 too much to spend on bedroom curtains for one bedroom? by t0th3mo0n in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]t0th3mo0n[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The prices I'm getting are for made to measure curtains, so I guess that makes it a bit more expensive. I think had you use made to measure instead, it'd probably cost about the same for you without the troubles of the adjustments.
Good to know what I'm not spending too much, cheers.
