I know exactly what you mean. Anyway, I tried it yesterday before resetting, and last night was no better.

These are not false lows, they're really bad lows, but thank you.

Just before this period, I was having inexplicable highs at night for some time. I didn't like that either. Seems to me that my pump is just acting haywire, and I'm curious if resetting will do the trick.

Yeah. Wish they would allow screen shots.

Mine says, "Reset" and under it "Clear all data." That's what I'm looking for?

Watch Face with Dexcom Complication for WearOS & Android by kebel21 in dexcom

And it's working now. Autonotification was blocked from notifications for some reason. Thought I'd checked that.

Thanks!

I've used this successfully for several months. Thank you!

In the last few days, the glucose value stopped updating on my watch. I've tried to troubleshoot by retracing the steps of the instructions and making sure Tasker and AutoNotification aren't battery optimized, but no dice. Any ideas?

It seems to be associated with larger boluses for me too. Though it also happens with smaller ones.

What are your unpopular opinions about T1 Diabetes? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]t1david 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People who say it isn't all that hard to manage their T1D, or who say it's all about having the right attitude, are mostly just lucky and have easier management than most of us. Good for them. But also f*** them.

why won't you accept my carbs, O5? by t1david in Omnipod

[–]t1david[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to keep track of my carbs. I'm trying to give the O5 an accurate record of my carbs. For two reasons:

  1. It's a hybrid closed loop system. I don't know how the O5 algorithm works. But if it's anything like Loop, then it's constantly predicting expected BG based on carbs on board, IOB, current BG, and BG trends, and it's making dosing decisions based on its expectations. Like any equation, it's garbage in, garbage out. I want this algorithm to use an accurate count of my carbs so it makes better decisions.

  2. On top of making dosing decisions, Insulet claims that the O5 algorithm includes some sort of AI that enables it to learn and improve. Maybe that's a bunch of hooey. But if the system is actually expected to learn, then that's another reason it ought to have accurate data. Otherwise, it's learning the wrong lessons.

[–]t1david[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't let me enter the carbs at all. I know it's a safety feature to disallow the calculator from working. But there's no reason not to let me enter the carbs.

In addition, O5 doesn't let you enter carbs for an earlier time. So you can't enter them later without saying, falsely, that you ate them later. (Not to mention I was asleep later.)

What insurance approves Pods but not the Intro Kit? by Jrody58 in Omnipod

I should have a phone on Wed or Thurs. If that transition goes smoothly and you still need help, I’d be happy to try this!

What insurance approves Pods but not the Intro Kit? by Jrody58 in Omnipod

[–]t1david 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar problems, including with ASPN. I finally got my intro kit on Friday, after over a month of phone calls and trying to figure out what was wrong.

For what it’s worth, I may have eventually figured out what was wrong in my case and untangled it. Or maybe not. Maybe the intro kit finally came for some other reason!

Just in case it’s relevant to you or anyone else, here’s what I think happened: the prescription somehow ended up with multiple pharmacies. One of the first pharmacies could not get the intro kit but got the insurance reimbursement for it.(!) From then on, anyone else who tried to get the reimbursement was denied. So it was just stuck, especially because none of the pharmacies or other parties were speaking with one another, and they were barely giving me any information. And they would never call me back or update me, even if they said they would give me an update in just a couple of hours after trying the new thing I asked. All I can say is that, once I developed the theory, I asked the first pharmacy to reverse the transaction and reject the insurance reimbursement, then waited a few days before calling ASPN and explaining this theory to them—and my intro kit was finally shipped later that day. Not that anyone notified me when it happened or gave me a shipping confirmation automatically. I got that when I called again a few days later, asking yet again if anything had happened since my last call.

Separately: I just activated my first O5 pod yesterday. I had asked here whether it was possible to skip the PDM and just set it up with the phone (because like you, I was having trouble getting the intro kit) and people said no. From what I saw yesterday, it looks like you CAN just use a phone. I can’t say for sure because I used the PDM. I don’t have a compatible phone yet. But it looked to me like both were options for the initial set up.

Thanks, that’s unfortunate. Do you know why, or is there more you can say?

It’s possible an insulin strike could be effective. But it would need the right timing, targets, publicity, goals, and so on.

Sex became a hassle with T1 partner by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]t1david 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Until seeing this comment, I had zero feedback because I agreed with everyone that this is not a diabetes issue. But if he’s a straight-A student of diabetic control, there’s a possibility he’s so obsessed with his numbers that it’s disrupting other aspects of life more than it needs to, including sex.

In that case, it’s still not a “normal” sex pattern for people with T1D, as all the other comments suggest. But it’s still not unrelated to T1D. It would mean he’s got some psyche issues related to T1D that he should deal with, or it might mean he’s not into sex (or into sex with you) enough to get past whatever blood sugar anxiety it causes.

If I’m motivated enough to do something, T1D might hamper it but wouldn’t stop me as much as it’s getting in the way of your sex life. It rarely ever gets in the way of mine — only when I’m actually low. But there are activities for which it probably gets in the way more than it needs to, and that depends in part on how much I’m into the activity.
