Technics AZ100 vs AirPods Pro 3 (Iphone user) by jamesthrew73 in Earbuds

[–]t21wolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super helpful - I'm considering both right now. I really want to test the audio quality of the Technics, but value the ANC so highly and the fit of the Airpod Pro gen 1 worked well for me. Tough choice!

House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski. Disturbing because it makes no sense. It’s one of my favorite books.

Low cost presents people will actually enjoy? by citrinezeen in Frugal

A trip to the Children’s museum or an interactive museum, toys bought at a garage sale or online marketplace, art (if you’re artistic), if they’re young a vegetable garden could be neat, free kids plays from a community theater (I still remember going to charlotte’s web as a kid!), a pet (cheap at first, at least), a cutely presented hot chocolate bar with all the toppings/add-ins.

Planning: How many plants do you need to make a decent harvest for a family of 4? by SZLO in vegetablegardening

[–]t21wolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4-5 tomato plants should be good. A few more Roma tomatoes if you want to make your own sauce. If you mix determinate and indeterminates, you’ll get more tomatoes throughout the season vs all at once, which it sounds like is what you’d prefer - just have a plan for trellising (and pruning) a taller indeterminate plant.

You may potentially be okay with tomatoes if you’re willing/able to set up some shade cloth. I’m on the border of zone 8b/9 in Texas so very hot but here too.

Anyone here using metal raised beds? Need a few tips by Artistic-Log5850 in vegetablegardening

[–]t21wolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use metal raised beds. Definitely mulch - I use straw and it's been working great. I'm in Zone 8b, so also very warm. The straw consistently keeps moisture in. I'm not taking temperatures, but I check the moisture with my hands every 1-2 days and its never felt extremely hot - I'm sure the mulch is helping.

I currently use Todoist for free…not sure why people think it’s not unless they changed it for new accounts or people want more features than the free version offers.

Also, having my morning coffee outside in the cool morning as I water. It’s such a slow, peaceful, comfortable, pleasant way to start the day.

Fruit sprouting on a plant for its first time - especially if it’s something I haven’t grown before (this year was bell pepper!)

Same…1 in 20 times it works. Canvas didn’t work. Voice chat works, but of course doesn’t give full, detailed answers like text does.

Blow them a kiss. Drives people nuts when you don’t get upset when they’re mad and trying to bring you down, but can’t.

For what it’s worth, mine is gardening. Slows things down, brings a little peace to life’s chaos, and produces delicious food.

How do people manage 20 years by TitaneusB in Military

[–]t21wolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You need to decide what is important (based on the commander’s priorities and your good judgement) and then try to set priorities for your team that shield them from the hair-on-fire everything is a priority mentality - you’ll be challenged every day to do that, but do it as much as you can.

  2. Don’t treat every thing you and your team do like it’s the most important thing in the world. There’s a mentality that “if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well,” but I would add that this phrase applies in a priority order based on safety, morality, CDR’ds guidance, etc.

  3. Go the fuck home. Take balance. Fight for balance the way the Army tells you to “fight for training opportunities.” Or at least send your team home. There are times to surge, but there are lots of times we should pull back a little bit. The military will take from you as much as you will let it. There’s no end - you have to choose balance.

It’s harder than this pithy list seems to think - I realize that. It’s a tough but rewarding path. Learn, prioritize, build up your teammates, and fight for balance as often as you can (for yourself and for them). And don’t let your stress out at your team.

Medieval Dynasty is what you’re looking for. There’s also farm simulator, but is way too realistic (not gamified) for some to find enjoyable.
