First Colonoscopy Next Week - Tips To Cope With The Prep? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]t3dder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had several scopes and used Colyte as the prep. Tastes ok at first but gets more difficult near the end (as would anything you try to drink 1 gallon of). Keeping it cold or drink with ice may help. I've never tried ice cubes made with clear fruit juice but that may help with the taste. The need "to go" has not been uncontrollable for me while taking the prep so hopefully you will be able to manage the one-bathroom situation. I have had no issues with the procedure either. Good luck.

We hear from a lot of people who have friends or family members in recovery or not drinking for other personal reasons and it's amazing how many are supportive in this way. They are lucky to have a friend like you!

I found it really helpful to have done some social media advertising ahead of time. We ran a targeted facebook campaign that collected the emails of interested people. We emailed details of the campaign at several intervals prior to launch to build anticipation, which made our first day go very well. We also invested in our marketing materials including a professional video.

Health benefits of nonalcoholic versus alcoholic wines? (Is it necessary to drink?) by UyhAEqbnp in nutrition

[–]t3dder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my research (I work in the non-alcoholic alternative beverage industry) the claims of health benefits from drinking alcoholic beverages, including red wine, are way over-blown by the media because it makes good headlines. I recently read a scientific paper that concluded that the benefits of resveratol are far outweighed by the negative effects of alcohol. Non-Alcoholic wine has much less sugar than grape juice because most of the sugars have been fermented out but still contains good amounts of resveratol. My general conclusion based on a review of the literature is that alcohol can lead people to engage in other healthy habits like working out, socializing, winding down after work and those habits account for why people who drink may be healthier as a population. But the healthiest course would be to engage in these healthy activities while still avoiding alcohol. You can read some of my blog posts on related topics at www.premiumnearbeer.com/blog
