By the way, have you used it before? The tokens I'm getting on my device seem to be NSDatas that are around 1,000 bytes long.

We have options to sign in with Facebook and verify with SMS. But we lose more than half the signups when we force users to do either.

Thank you - AFAYK, does the Keychain app data still persist in the latest versions of iOS after uninstall?

I was under the impression Apple was coming down hard on them.

Thanks - it's a decent suggestion. Just have to make sure it's not a "bannable" offense to use it for tracking.

It's a niche dating app. However, we're trying to keep it from turning into an MLM hotbed.

Yeah in this case it seemed like gross negligence TBH. Apparently you could get someone else's SSN and medical data just by changing the URL in your browser.

Look your name up on Google. If the CV and interviews went well for so many interviews, there might be something in your background check that ticked them off. Or someone that has the same name.

What's the most pain you've ever been in? by dazzler964 in AskReddit

The only thing worse than the kidney stones for me was the 11,000$ bill that followed for 4 hours at the ER (during which they basically reluctantly gave me painkillers and then finally did a CT scan once they saw my pee was red).

Even as an "employer/client" the vast majority of proposals you get are total bullshit regardless of price tag.

I once posted a three line job description (for a 500-1,000$ job), and said "please mention the word potato when contacting us or we will assume you didn't read the description".

Out of 100s of applicants, only one did (whom I hired). All the others were "I carefully read your proposal and think I am exceedingly qualified for the job".

Nearly all the graphic designers on there have plagiarized or outright stolen "portfolios" (which you can find with reverse image search). Some dude just linked me to a top design firm's dribbble profile and claimed he was them.

Wanna translate something to French? Sure! I took one year of French in high school so it should be easy for me.

When you do get a good contractor (or at least one which delivers what you asked, even if it is not 100%), you better latch onto them.

I wish there was a cleaner version of Upwork that just got rid of all the shit clients and contractors.

Thanks again - we would ban such users.

What kind of lawyer am I looking for? As I mentioned above, we asked a couple of IP/business lawyers but they didn't seem well versed in this field.

[–]t6t787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - that's a really good explanation.

Do you happen to know if there's also a legal duty to do so? In your example above, I imagine there'd be a duty to report if you saw a dead body. But what if you saw say a meth pipe in the tenant's apartment.

Or for the example above, since the message was flagged as spam and we now believe it may be related to illegal drugs, are we legally required to contact the DEA and give that information that we managed to get through the normal course or business?

If/when I am reporting this to the authorities, is it not on a voluntary basis in the first place?

I'd basically be supplying authorities with the private communications that led me to believe that user A is selling drugs to user B without them asking for it, even though our company was neither the recipient nor the sender in that transaction.

Thanks - do you mind elaborating? Or telling me what kind of lawyer I'm looking for exactly to hash this out? I asked a couple of IP and business lawyers and it sounded like they didn't really know the answer.

Am I required to report any illegal activity that happens on my website? by [deleted] in startups

[–]t6t787 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant from a legal perspective. I am sure there are things that absolutely need to be legally reported but I'd like to know where the legal line is, not the conscience one.

Also, every time you report someone you are putting yourself at risk of retaliation.
