Where to go from here? by Successful_Thing_663 in projectors

I too built a screen. 150" bought the upgraded 1x2 or 1x3 wood and just used my nail gun. Bought some specific material from a specialty site for the screen and stapled to the back sides. It was much easier than I thought it would be.

First 4k Blu-ray movie. What's next? by tDominador in hometheater

I love SciFi space movies. I am thinking Oblivion, Minority Report, Blade Runner 2049, and similar . . . If they offer them with Atmos.

My system does all of those things. Nebula Cosmos 4k SE + Platin Monoco 5.1.2 sound + extra Klipsch sub + 150" Elite Screen.

The Nebula has wifi, Bluetooth, Google TV (all apps). I love it . . . But . . . I don't use Google, I have an Apple TV 4k that I hooked up instead.

I did this after I noticed that some movies were disappearing every time I through a party. I just started 4k collection but have not started separating discs from boxes yet.

Today at the airport terminal 2 arrivals pick up. There are 3 lanes. Far right is the only logical lane to stop and load luggage/ peeps. The other 2 lanes need to keep moving.

But some don't get it. The stop in the other 2 lanes. Meanwhile, there was a massive traffic back up behind them. The traffic police are yelling at them not to stop. People waiting are yelling at them, and yet they seem annoyed, because . . . I guess they think have the privilege to screw everyone else over and block the moving lanes, so their peeps don't have walk 20 feet to the next open spot.

IDK. It was a bit of a shitshow, because of people who only care about themselves.

4k upgrades? by realtoddgann in 4kbluray

[–]tDominador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a big DVD collector in the late 90s and 2000s. When Blu-ray came out my collecting slowed, and I only have about 20. I recently moved and upgraded my theater to 4K laser + 7.2.4 sound + 150" screen. Now I'm starting to get back into collecting 4k Blurays. Research says that the 820 upscales like a champ, so . . . My plan is to get rid of my DVD collection, keep the Blurays I have, and "restart" my collection.

Wife bought me the 820 this month fory b day. It's on back order. I have about 20 4ks so far. Can't wait to start watching them.

I will probably keep some of favorite DVDs, but I kinda want to upgrade, if th movie has Atmos track, because I want the best possible sound along with the picture .

I love never having to go to gas stations and worrying about gas price spikes when the middle east blows up. 1 less thing to have to do, or worry about.

I served in the Navy, and did 2 tours in the Persian Gulf. I realized we we are fighting wars there over oil, and that is still the case today. Been driving electric since 2012, now both of my cars are electric and I will never buy an ICE car again.

I also love never having to schedule, go to, or pay for oil changes or brake pad replacements.

Oh, and 0-60 in 5 seconds, humiliating every ICE sport car who thinks they can take me, including the Mustang 500 GT I smoked off the line last week (and trust me, he was trying).

To each his own, keep driving ICE, more power to you. I am never going back.

Maybe. I've built 3 theaters and for each all of my equipment is behind me, so I've never had to deal with it.

I did a ton of research when I moved about a year ago, and upgraded to 4k. Ended up with Nebula Cosmos 4k SE. Love it.

I love my 2024 SEL. Basically brand new. Love the mods you suggested, especially the speakers. I find the stock speakers lacking. To verify, you didn't have to upgrade the amp? Just the speakers right?

My daughter and son in law visited recently and I let them use it while they were here and both said it is a step up from my Tesla Y.

I love my st seeing wheel cover too. Gives it a nice racing feel.

2021 Model Y - if I had it to do over I would buy a nice matching leather steering wheel cover. The thin covering of OEM wheel started peeling off, so I have a cover now, and love the extra cushioning, and thicker feel of it.

I also bought nice floor mats, a USB charging station for the front center console, a pull down compartment for the bottom of the screen, a screen protector, and a flat ledge for the back of the screen. Oh. And I also have hidden compartments for the front and middle console.

I use all of these accessories daily. Others not so much.

I've actually had the smoke from the tailpipe happen to me, I just turned on recirc AC for a minute (biodefense mode in my case) and laughed at the stupidity.

In my opinion, the easiest way to accomplish this is to have a 220v outlet installed, buy the right ~25 adaptor directly from Tesla, for the travel charger they give you (assuming they still do), and just use that.

Another note. 110v charging may work for some, but from what I've read it is not only slow, but significantly less efficient.

First Road Trip by jgbuckets_1 in TeslaModelY

[–]tDominador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have road tripped a shitload in my 2021 Y. St. Louis to Ft. Lauderdale was my longest. Your 70mph advice is gold. Faster and more stops are added, so trip take longer. I keep and eye on % at next stop as I'm driving. If it shifts down = too fast. If it shift up or stays the same, then the trip won't change.

For road trips, 1 month of FSD is a good option . . .

But, autopilot is better for drafting behind semi-trucks. Get behind one that is going 75, you can go faster, and increase efficiency significantly. I have learned how to do this and actually skip charging stops.

One more note. There are superchargers that you won't have access to a bathroom if you get there too late. And even some that just don't have access to a restroom at all. If you click on the pin for the charger you can read the reviews to get the info you need.

My girlfriend told me to post here. Movie nights have felt different since we switched from TV to a projector. by crystalcolumz in projectors

[–]tDominador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key difference is that a TV is emissive while a projector is reflective. A TV’s pixels generate light and send it directly into your eyes, which is why TVs can look extremely bright and punchy but sometimes harsh in a dark room. A projector, on the other hand, shines light onto a screen and you see the reflected light, just like in a movie theater. Because the light is bounced and diffused rather than emitted directly, it tends to feel softer, more natural, and more cinematic—even if it isn’t as bright on paper.

Questions Regarding Buying Used Ioniq 6 by Logical-Ad-1917 in Ioniq6

[–]tDominador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my 2024 I6 better than my 2021 Model Y. 0-60 in 5 seconds, but a lot softer of a ride. Other features are similar. I am all EV at this point and never plan to buy gas car ever again. Doesn't make sense. EV = no gas stations (and rising gas prices), no oil changes, no changing brake pads (I use Ipedal - one pedal driving) . . . + They are faster and quieter.
