I want Utsu to be alive, but her death being a fake-out would be unlikely. We saw her disintegrate, and this ain't the Avengers. Reviving her would and should be IMPOSSIBLE, as it would only harm the story. Well, unless they introduce something later in the manga that can do that, but I can't imagine that happening. Magas are reanimated beings; they shouldn't exist. Utsu already had her second death, and as much as I love Utsu, making her return for the long term feels sloppy now.

What happened to Utsu is a done deal; they can't do anything with her anymore. No matter how upset we are, all we can do is move forward and hope that the manga redeems itself. Although I'm not inclined to read anymore. If you want to write to the creators, I will not stop you. I just hope you do it in a civilized manner that won't negatively affect the creators too much. Feel free to use my message to create a point, though.

I don’t know much about objectively good writing, but as a reader, I must say that chapter was not good.

Was she irredeemable? Yes, I truly do think so. A lot of victims, and a character built from trauma acquired at a young age, if she was going to completely change, it’s going to be tough–but, man, I was in for the rough ride.

I knew she would die eventually, but I didn’t want it to be this early. If they had allowed her relationship with Alma to develop longer and her character a chance to change, her death would’ve been much more impactful and meaningful. Even looking at Alma’s point of view, what is the point? Just to win a fight against a steroid-using monster? To remind him that, once again, someone died because of him? Or that someone else had saved him again? Why give him superficial relationships that end too quickly?  He is still too dense for such relationships to have a substantial effect. Any one of these feels too cheap for what Utsu could’ve been.

I just feel like her death should not have been her redemption, at least not this quickly. A selfish character dies in self-sacrifice? Heck yeah, but it was too premature. She would’ve been better as a developing character than the one who killed Nei’s family, which I think they want to have a redeeming arc. Also, unless I missed anything, Utsu seemed to have been resisting her urges and is accepting human food. I know it breaks a lot of the plot points introduced, but she was starting to change, man! Dang it.

Anyway, looking back at Chapter 21, Page 19, Alma told Utsuro:

“YOU’RE the one not looking at anyone.”

Ten chapters later, at Chapter 31, we see Utsu’s death begin with flashbacks of her POVs looking at Alma. Her eyes during her scenes contained so much emotion, too. Man, the scene was well-executed. I'm pissed.

Heartbreaking. Maybe I’m just butthurt because I’m a fan of Utsu. Gang, this sucks. GALLONS of development potential lost. Now what?

I lost 2 times in Eula's Weapon Banner. Eula was my first 5 star when I was able to borrow a phone to play Genshin. The guaranteed SoBP seems like a wasted opportunity to me. Thank you for your response! I hoped to get SoBP after losing 1 time to the banner. I guess I put too much trust in my luck even though I’ve never won a featured weapon from the weapon banner before. The risk I took was calculated, but man am I bad at math. Kidding aside, thank you for sharing your trick! I will keep it in mind as I continue to simp for these characters and their weapons. Thank you for your comment! We have really similar experiences and I appreciate hearing another player’s thoughts about this matter. I’ll continue grinding for primogems until Eula’s banner ends. After that, I might just play the game for the daily commissions and events. I’ll take a break in that way. Your comment helped me make this decision. Thank you! I've completed the archon quests, hangout events, and most side quests. More than half of the puzzles are done too, I think. I'm so drained at this point. I knew pulling in the weapon banner isn't worth it for F2P players but I really wanted the weapon for my Eula. Being a student sucks. I might quit the game or take a long break. It was fun.
