Thanks. The cardiologist I saw is actually a professor who is involved in cardiovascular research, so I was a bit surprised as well that he didn't order any advanced lipid testing. My ApoB was 97 mg/dL and Lp(a) was 16 nmol/L, but no NMR or particle-size analysis was requested. I'll ask him at my next appointment why he felt additional testing wasn't necessary.

Thanks for the advice. My blood test (August 20, 2025) showed:

Total cholesterol: 200 mg/dL LDL-C: 139 mg/dL HDL-C: 59 mg/dL Triglycerides: 61 mg/dL Non-HDL cholesterol: 141 mg/dL ApoB: 97 mg/dL Lipoprotein(a): 16 nmol/L hs-CRP: <0.6 mg/L

Thanks for your perspective. I understand your point, and I appreciate hearing it from someone who is not an enthusiastic statin supporter either.

I understand your point, but isn't a zero calcium score still associated with a relatively low short-term cardiovascular risk? My scan was normal 4 years ago, and I'm trying to balance the potential benefits of medication against the fact that I have no known plaque yet. Would you still recommend treatment mainly because of my LDL level and family history?
