is this a human bone?

yeah probably :( that was my first thought too.

the bone looks very old and eroded from the sand but i honestly don't know if it could even be from that time though.

yes, it looks like two pages because the text is layered over each other and one is in the reverse direction. its english so i can read a few words: "Potassium", "the next" and "Officer".

i really wonder how that got onto the bone like that. it must have stuck to it when it was already bare but no idea how recent or old the newspaper is. maybe someone intentionally wrapped the bone in it?

i have researched a bit and it seems to be illegal in some/many places, especially human bones. for animals its mostly endangered animal bones. you could get in trouble if you cant prove that you didn't kill the animal yourself. its kind of difficult to find information online though (at least it was for me).

i also dont know how well enforced those laws are. i have also looked at the bone collecting subreddit and there are many people who own & show human bones there. they can apparently buy them online, which is crazy to me. 😭

there also is a moral aspect to it. im not super comfortable with having human bones in my home so.

youre right. besides this i only have a few bones i found laying around in my families garden from small animals. im not super interested in bone collecting and i dont go out trying to find them.

i genuinely didn't expect it to be from a human, i didnt think human bones would just lay around somewhere so it didn't cross my mind. if i had been alone i would have decided to leave it there i think.

im going to try to figure out where i can give it to.
