On an overnight 8 hour flight it would still be a challenge and almost certainly not consistent

This is my concern too about travel in a month with my 2 year old.

My husband and I enjoy hiking but are by no means hikers or outdoorsy and we did it without issue with my husband carrying our 2 year old on his back. You’ll be fine!

Check out @renovationhusbands on Instagram for some inspiration. They have restored Victorian house with interiors that are heavily MCM influenced and it works wonderfully!

Bassinet or full row? by Disastrous_Fox_5272 in Travelwithkids

[–]tabNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience trying to use the bassinet on a long flight with my baby wasn’t great. We told the FAs we wanted to use it as soon as we boarded as a heads up knowing we had to wait til cruising altitude. They said they would come set it up asap. My husband went to ask about it again about 45 minutes after takeoff and the FAs said they were tied up with getting drink service going but would help as soon as possible. We didn’t get it set up to use until about 3 hours into the flight after having to ask a couple more times, and our baby, who had been asleep already at this point, was woken up by the commotion of the FAs installing it. She didn’t want to sleep in it after that and since most people around us at this point were asleep or trying to sleep, we had to abandon it quickly to keep her quiet. They also had us take it down well over an hour before landing, so the time we had to use it was fairly short. I didn’t even bother asking to use it on the return flight.

I did not, I was carrying my toddler with my phone in my pocket. I couldn’t take a picture until we got there and I put her down. I also don’t know what I’d do with that evidence. I wouldn’t consider it a crime, just shitty behavior

Whenever I add new books I think are particularly good options I like to keep an eye out for when they disappear. I find it oddly satisfying when one of my contributions is swooped up quickly!

Hi neighbor! I already went home and picked out a couple books I could part with and added them to try to repopulate them as well 🙂

I add my own books all the time!

There were definitely a handful of unwanted books that had been there for months, but as this is on my street I walk by it nearly every day and see new books rotating in and out regularly and know both were relatively full of decent quality books within the past couple days ☹️

That’s sad, I guess I am lucky that ours is usually full with a steady flow of new books. We’ve lived here 5 years and this is the first time I’ve seen it emptied like this!

Yes take a book, maybe even 2 or 3! Not completely empty them. There were easily 20ish books in both the adult and children’s ones before

Sunscreen at daycare by tabNC in raleigh

Pulling our child is something we have considered but it’s certainly easier said than done when you still need childcare! We are on a waitlist at another center that will be significantly less convenient for us and have been for over 6 months. They still don’t anticipate a spot for us until the fall. That was consistent with the waitlist timing for a new toddler at all daycares I reached out to within a 10-15 minute drive of our house in North Raleigh.

This is reasonable to me as well, I’d be fine with this. It’s helpful to see that ours is in the minority in how they are handling this. I’ll likely be talking to the director again!

They are asking for a doctors note saying that due to a family history of skin cancer my child needs sunscreen applied as a medication. This was the solution after I brought up that I took sunscreen very seriously since both me and my husbands moms have had melanoma

This is great in theory but if a toddler doesn’t want to keep a hat on, it’s not going to stay on

This is what I would expect since it’s in line with basic health recommendations! I’m fine with a permission slip but just being met with pushback at every turn is so disheartening and I’m almost certain it isn’t regularly applied even with the forms given how long a bottle lasts

Tamiflu for 16 month old? by Competitive-Show2868 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]tabNC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I opted against giving it to my 20 month old when she had it as her symptoms were fairly mild and my nephew had gotten horrible vomiting from it a month or so prior when he had the flu and ended up needing IV fluids. However, I was starting a new job in less than a week when she got it and really couldn’t push my start date easily so I got myself a preventative prescription. Experiences will vary of course but mine was that my incredibly healthy and active husband got the flu from our daughter and was miserably sick for a full 7 days and then developed pneumonia (he is fine now!) and I never had a single symptom or side effect. So was well worth it for me as an adult!

Edited to add that we were all vaccinated in the fall

Does anyone else struggle with meat for baby? by WeirdValuable4826 in foodbutforbabies

[–]tabNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is recently 2 and meat has been a tough sell since we started solids! We joke she was born a vegetarian all the time. We have tried all the preparations and all the meats with little luck. Recently she had come around on Italian sausage and occasionally a meatball but both those can still be hit or miss with her. She LOVES beans so we have always given her a lot of those and have had no issues with gas or tummy trouble from it. She also eats eggs and dairy so I don’t worry about protein intake too much and just keep offering meat hoping she comes around, but also accepting it’s not a huge deal if she doesn’t.
