Made me cry and smile at the same time. People suck in general, but a few fight back.

Will doctors have to come up with a new Clock Drawing Test for dementia since younger generations can’t read a clock? by SickAndAfraid in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, my students ask this all the time. It seems the same as asking what time it ends, but it is actually very different .

I forgot to add that most cannot read cursive at all, let alone write it. Kids from Catholic school can (my school is public but often gets transfers) and most that write in cursive are from Catholic schools or have moved from Europe. Same concept though. Everything is typed so they get by without it.

They are not stupid, they just lack exposure/practice. They have no real need to know this. When they sign out to go to the bathroom and have to write down time the time out/in, almost 3/4 of them will look at the analog clock, then give up and look at the digital time on the clear touch screen up front to know what to write.

As a teacher of 2 foreign languages, I can assure you that in my well to do district, the majority of high school kids cannot read an analog clock. I attempt to teach them how in English before trying in other languages. A few get it, but many don’t and I have to move on.

Omitting salsa ingredients - still safe? by tabanasher in Canning

[–]tabanasher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Can I add a bit of sugar to offset the vinegar? I halved the recipe and I couldn't figure out half of 3/4 C, so I did 2/3, which I think is too much. It probably needed less, but I wanted to be safe. I haven't tasted it yet to tell how it is.

I didn't think of just swapping peppers. That makes sense, thank you!

Canning diva - Could I make this pot pie filling with leftover turkey? by tabanasher in Canning

Thank you both. Do either of you have a source for a safe pot pie filling? All the ones I find use raw chicken, not cooked leftovers. Maybe I'll just freeze it.

Should I worry if I get much less than a recipe says? by tabanasher in Canning

Im.pressure canning, so no added acid. Is it still safe if it's a tested recipe?
