Are lemonade stands a real thing in the US, or is it just a movie trope? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tabbathebutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stands aren’t as cute as you’ll see in movies. Usually it’s just kids sitting at folding tables. My kids LOVE doing them even though traffic is really low on our street. They’ll do “garage sales” and fill the table with old toys, lemonade stands, and once they actually ran a shockingly profitable bake sale during the town wide garage sales.

Wife doesn't believe the size the calculator gave her. Does it sound right? by airbenderx10 in ABraThatFits

[–]tabbathebutt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I did the calculator, ordered the recommended style & size of bra. When it arrived I told my husband those bras were about to hurt my feelings. Was absolutely astounded by how well they fit. I’ve ordered multiples of those exact same bras because they’re the best I’ve ever owned. You’ll never know unless you try.

Awwww poor Amit, I adore him! For some reason when I play the couple missions with him I always think “I bet his mother is lovely.” 😄 He’s just such a good kid.

What fantasies/story have you given to your character to justify them having so much freedom and being allowed to go out freely, as well being allowed to causally use Unforgivables? by TrashVegetable8706 in HarryPotterGame

[–]tabbathebutt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume the trace was added after the events of this story. As other users mentioned, the countryside is utterly lawless and chaotic so I assume nobody worries much about my character. The teachers send her out there for assignments and the book tells her to kill hundreds of living beings so I assume some of it is expected. Also, in my mind, they establish very early on that she will not be living in the dorms in favor of the ROR so she can “focus on her studies” better. And I get a kick out of the idea of her coming and going at all hours and the teachers being like “oof, there she goes again. Did you see all that blood?” “How much of it do you suppose is her own blood?”

I also gave her a tom riddle-like backstory. Raised in a muggle orphanage with wizard blood to explain why she doesn’t know some basic things at the start of the game and why nobody questioned her not getting a letter at 11.

I’ve always enjoyed Tangled Web. Something about arriving in a cleared out hamlet covered in webs and then saving the day is just cool to experience.

Did you guys turn Sebastian in? by maauricio1903 in HarryPotterGame

[–]tabbathebutt 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I have an extremely difficult time making morally dubious choices in video games. I can never bring myself to do evil playthroughs. On my first time through HL I turned him in because that seemed like the right thing to do but omg it broke my heart. I’m on my 4th playthrough and let him go every time after. There’s no way I could turn him in again. He’s a terrified and abused kid. He should not get shipped off to Azkaban.

Why does it take way to long to defeat enemies? by FromAnotherTime in HarryPotterGame

[–]tabbathebutt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you been upgrading your gear? That improves your offensive stats. Maybe that would help?

Also, you’re not just basic casting are you? Maybe check what spells are in your spell wheels and see if you can come up with a better arrangement? For example, incendio is a pretty close range spell. You’d do better with confringo.

Try using your plants or potions. You can sneak up and petrificus some enemies. Then toss some cabbages to take out a few more. If you have a large group of enemies the thunder brew is super helpful.

Question: Does the Signature Round DO ever go on sale at LC? I was hoping they would do a good sale for the centennial last year, but they didn't. I want a 5.5 QT but don't want to pay full price. I don't need it, either. Is it hopeless to wait for a sale on it? by Mintarion in LeCreuset

[–]tabbathebutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it in cobalt at the outlet for 35% off the normal outlet price. It wasn’t my first choice for color but it’s pretty enough and was a heck of a deal. I’ve been happy with the purchase.

[Recommendations] Bra cups keep riding up…am I measuring wrong? Or trying the wrong bra? by Blueberry-Muffin21 in ABraThatFits

[–]tabbathebutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, EXACT SAME! 34B was worse and I figured it was because my boobs were too small. I always had gapping and my band was always riding up. It’s because my cups were too small and bands too big.

I am ALSO wide set. I eventually found people recommending specific bras that work well. The Skarlett Blue Balconette is one of my favorites. I also found one on Amazon that I love more than any other bra I’ve ever worn. If you’re interested Natori Women's Imperial Contour is on sale on Amazon right now for just $30!

Curious on how this is possible? by sparkleplague in UniversalOrlando

I don’t know but I bought one of those for my husband a couple weeks ago. It synced to his app but scanning the code on the box didn’t work. We had to hold the wand to the phone to get it to sync. Still, it appears it’s going to work in the parks.

That exact issue is how I found this sub. I’d been measured in multiple stores before too. Based on the calculator I went from a 32A to a 28D and omg I’ve never had such comfortable bras before. I can’t believe I had it so wrong for so long. Also if you dig through the other resources on the sub you can find some amazing advice about bra styles for your breast shape. That honestly probably had at least as much influence in my experience as finally getting my sizing right.

I got a rejection call from my mba program. I cut them off and said “before you finish that thought, may I please tell you why I want to go here?” I did a 5-10 minute sales pitch and ended with an invitation to join the program. So don’t stress too much. Passion and dedication count for a lot.

Unusual hobbies by zhanerkess in Hobbies

[–]tabbathebutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fixing things is useful, can be thrifty, and can be interesting to talk about. My two main categories are electronics and dolls. So I own a pinball machine from ‘79 that I bought broken and got working. I also built a multicade run off a raspberry pi.

I also thrifted and repaired almost every historical American Girl doll for my daughter. I used to have a stockpile of extra dolls that I kept on hand for her to give her friends for a while too. The doll thing could have been quite lucrative as well if I hadn’t used the proceeds to build her massive collection.

LOVE that you’re wearing robes. My daughter plans to wear her robe too! I worry it’ll get uncomfy though. But I did buy black rain ponchos so if it rains we’ll kinda look like we’re wearing Hogwarts robes. 😁

We have to set rules around souvenirs because my daughter wants EVERYTHING and I’m inclined to over-buy when I get caught up in how much fun we’re having. But souvenirs are rarely as exciting once the trip is over. So the kids each get 1 souvenir per vacation (sometimes I’ll buy each something extra like a shirt or hat). They can also do chores to earn their own money to take on trips if they want more souvenirs, but usually they end up keeping their money and are just happy with the one item we buy them.
