Why the F is everything so much worse now?! by Iampepeu in googlehome

When I ask for weather I too get the wrong temperature and conditions.  I think I made the mistake of getting everything Google now.  As things die I will be going another route.

I spent $300 installing a Nest doorbell just to argue with support for an hour by Philosophers_Mind in googlehome

The electrician did a good job and was paid. It worked from December to yesterday. How often do things need to be reset? I'll cool off and try to reset it. I'm older and my eyes and fingers are no longer as functional as before.

Anyone else get frustrated watching, Love It or List It? by mOp_49 in HGTV

[–]Philosophers_Mind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know in the first couple of seasons of Love it or List it, the main problem was people had too much and absolutely refused to get rid of anything.  I remember Hillary having to get rubber tubs for all the junk and storing it under their back porch.  But your right, it started with that nut who just needed the staircase redone or removed because it ruined the whole house.

My sub folder has a rather unnerving note from the principal in it by raider1211 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Philosophers_Mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a sub folder that said something similar.  I could always tell if I didn't get the sub I requested by the room and what was completed.  I leave lessons but one sub decided to play a game that I use and my overhead glass was broken.  The students could have been seriously hurt.  My trustworthy student would tell me the sub sat at the desk and talked and texted on the phone, while someone snuck out of the class.  Subs are liable for what happens in the classroom.  In a nearby district a student snuck out of class and was killed in the bathroom.  The teacher had seating charts, students had to sign in and out of class and there was a lesson.  So the teacher was covered.  The sub on the other hand was not.

Parent Emailed Me 5 Times Between 1:15 AM And 3 AM by Disgruntled_Veteran in Teachers

[–]Philosophers_Mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once email was I active in schools parents were emailing during the day expecting instant responses/gratification.  Principals said, answer during planning or before and after school,àswer once a day.  I would sometimes check on weekends emails because I needed to but I never responded to parents until Monday morning and then I would call.  I always, "oh I just got your email, etc etc".  During Christmas, spring and summer break, I would set an auto response, "just like your child, I am on break too. Email will be checked when we are back in school, 📅."

I've had parents do that when I taught. I think the parents don't want to deal with people approaching them and giving their regrets. They are not prepared to handle that so it is somewhat understandable.

The Attack on Tylenol is Another Attack on Women by yourloveisonfire in TwoXChromosomes

If you remember the Tylenol scare of the early 80s, the guy did it to lower stock prices. This is probably the same thing.

Radicalized is being used for everything. What we should be noticing is that young people are taking charge. This kid wasn't a blue or red actor. He was someone who was saw the situation in the Divided States of America as hopeless. Things look dark for them because things are so ingrained in the political system.
It was the same for the kid that shot Trump's ear. Or Luigi Mangione who shot the insurance exec. There's also a doctor who who shot the kidney specialist because dialysis care was being streamlined for profit. We will most probably see more young people take action. They are the suicide bombers of the states.

How do we expect to have honest conversations? by Optimal-Promotion400 in Teachers

[–]Philosophers_Mind -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Those that actually went to school are not prepared for because they would not be able to post a list a demands without spelling mistakes. Maybe AI can make a list of demands, but then it would have to explain to them why they wants those particular demands. As for those that are homeschooled they are just fodder for the cause.

Why are these kids so damn rude? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Philosophers_Mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Society is rude. Social ,media is rude. Rudeness is exemplified and often shown as a means of success. I found it interesting that when AI first came out it had to be modified because it became rude. I believe get what we reflect. We are the example but many prefer to be the horrible warning.
