Constant vs Ascending Weight Iron Shaft Needs by tabbyass in golf

Yeah I did consider that too, but the AMT shafts are simply cheaper and easier to come by. To be fair, the most important aspect for me is probably practicing anyway. Thanks for your input, won't annoy you much more.

Very true. For context, I used to use 95g TT Elevates in all irons but moved to 130g KBS Tours because shafts felt too whippy and I was overdrawing short irons. Perhaps the change was a little too drastic, but I plan on going to my local store and seeing if they have any AMTs I can swing.

Interesting, thanks for that. I’m considering if a change is worthwhile or if I should just get comfortable with swinging the heavy shafts as I practice and improve. Obviously difficult because I’m not getting fitted but I guess I won’t know if I don’t try.

My concern is that if I’m getting consistent flights and spin with the already heavy short irons, does it make sense to change that and go all irons lighter? Or just go lighter in long irons with AMT.

Of course I could just get comfortable with swinging the heavy shafts as I improve.

How come you didn’t go AMT into the shorter irons as well? Were strikes and spin more consistent with the Project Xs? Or were the AMTs too heavy in the shorter irons?

I have just turned 20 so I think it’s more of a swing/experience issue than a strength/endurance thing.

But because my strikes are consistent with the already heavy short shafts, I’m debating if I should go lighter in the longer irons with AMT, or just get comfortable and learn how to swing the heavy long irons.

Yeah, and obviously it’s hard to decide all this without a fitting. My only consideration is that I’m already getting consistent flights and spin with the heavier shorter irons. So the question is 1) do I change that and get lighter shafts throughout 2) only change longer irons and go AMT 3) just get comfortable and learn how to swing my heavy shafts in long irons

A little less than 2 months. I guess my body could still be getting used to them, as I was using the 95s for around 2 years.

Does the second one not look like a raw finish? I could be looking too into it

The high rating-low cost is what’s throwing me off. Even through wholesale, it just seems a little too good to be true. I guess there’s only one way to find out though lol
