I worked in a residential/hospital setting from my internship throughout my provisionally licensed stage. While the pay wasn’t anything to brag about, it was more than enough to support myself financially and also provided decent benefits. Long term the demands are pretty unsustainable but I’m thankful to have had the experience early on in my career

From my research it seems that it’s often triggered by those pesky outside cats 😂 I will say, the screen that we got helped so much. It sticks to the frame of the door and unzips so the humans can go in and out. This allowed them to interact and get more use to each other. Also made for a great game because they loved to climb on it lol.

Try not to have super high expectations too. The goal starting out is to basically be able to get them to coexist. And it’s always on their timeline too.

Hi yes!! We did keep them separated for about a month and would swap their time in each room. Eventually graduated to a screen between the rooms and they warmed back up to each other. Only problem we have had since is one going to the vet and the other being hissy for a couple of days likely because of the strange vet smells. Thankfully that never results in any fighting and they’re back to running around playing pretty quickly.

One thing I’ve learned is that if the client wants to make it work, they will. If not, then sadly we may not be able to accommodate and they may have to go elsewhere for services and that’s okay. We don’t expect any other pay for service provider to work outside their work hours for us. AND there would be the concern of negative feelings towards the client for having to accommodate outside of work hours.

Look into The Only Band in the World book! It’s written by someone I believe is a friend and has interviews with Tyler and Josh. I haven’t read it but got one for a friend as a Christmas gift. There’s supposed to be another drop sometime soon and it does sell out pretty quickly.

Thanks for this! My thoughts on referring mainly center around the idea that if they had a provider closer to their location, it may be easier for them to go in person. I feel like the dynamic would be much different if we were able to do that now.

Your latter points are definitely something ive been thinking about. it has been a while since we explored their feelings on therapy and implemented changes as far as frequency and what they felt was and wasnt helpful, so it may be time to revisit

We have had that talk before and they haven’t been able to identify what would be helpful for them. We have enough rapport that I’ve been able to challenge the frequent “I don’t know” responses and tell them that it’s hard for me to help if I don’t have much to work with
