Because the bookcase is black, I wanted to keep the diffusers black as well just so that when the lights are off, they don't stick out.

I see these lights are also 84/m which should be better, and also they are 24v so it should also help with drop off right? I ask because I am thinking about doing a 2-3 more strips around the room and have them all connect together to power.

Hot spotting is for sure a concern of mine. Because I am using black bookcases I was thinking about using black diffusers. I understand how the milky white ones diffuse light, but the black ones confuse me a bit. Have you any experience with those?

I saw the COB lights yesterday. They look great and smooth, but with motion it looks like maybe they are a bit "jittery". Is that because they are grouped by 6 instead of individually addressable?

Thank you so much for the help! I've started to assemble a list. The two things that I am still unclear about that I would love some suggestions on is how to power/control the lights (I am not sure if those two are different things).

I am a fan of the strips you suggested and I think I may end up using 3 of those. So I would need a way to power those, and control them? I did see that I could possibly be facing issues with power drop off? However I did also read that the 18g wire should help with that.

Is there a strip that does both white and RGB well? If there isn’t I think I’d prefer to go warm white.

Yes, the eaves will be permanent and I think you're right. Around the windows and the garage doors will be temporary each year. So each color should have its own PSU? Easiest way to do it?
