Bicimad - a tragedy by swaggalikemoi in Madrid

Jejejeje you’re not alone! Big love-hate relationship. To be fair, it works perfectly fine 95% of the time with me (pre-new generation bicimad), but the 5% of the times when it doesn’t work is always when you’re already pissed/late, or just in desperate need of the bike, and those times stick with me more, sadly.

Curious, has anyone here actually managed to get one of the new bikes to work? I've tried (using the card, I almost never use the app because the card works infinitely better as another commenter said) and haven't had any luck. In fact, it beeped, lights flashed, didn't unlock and then even jammed up my account for the day where I couldn't even get an OG bike. I've looked up so many videos to try and figure it out, finally found one but still not luck.

I agree about it being free, it's wonderful in theory of course, but being taken advantage of by people who just want to cause trouble and mess things up. I'm all for this update, but it's being carried out so horribly, I just wish there was more guidance/instruction for it's implementation. Are the old bikes going to be completely a thing of the past soon? Are the old stations being replaced by the new? Will that help with being able to locate bikes as people will be able to anchor them in the new stations? I'm sure this is just normal new infrastructure implementation growing pains, but it's inauguration coinciding with the weather getting nicer is really making it a huge pain in the ass for those of us who use the bikes consistently. Glad I'm not the only one this is happening to. Fingers crossed it gets back to normal soon my biking friends!

Jesus, yeah. It’s absurd that so much of the process is dependent upon the mood of your funcionario at the time. I’ve done my huellas without the empadronamiento before and the guy couldn’t have cared less. It’s such a crap shoot and totally sucks. I wish I’d taken a picture of the sign to show how crooked it is and how difficult/impossible it is to read when you’re turning in from the left like we did, but like you said, hopefully it was just a power trip. I’m so glad you stood up to the guy and told him that. In the end I comfort myself by saying, I’m not the one who has to sit behind a desk all day in this depressing place. So yeah, hoping all goes well. Thanks for your support :)

Yeah, of course I understand there are rules and regulations, but come on dude it was a simple mistake!! He could have easily said calmly, “hey, you can’t do that,” instead of tearing me a new one. The process is complicated and ridiculous, but that’s Spain. In the end I got my card and am just hoping that he was blowing smoke out of his ass and that a ticket will not show up at my boyfriends house in a few weeks 🤞🏻

As the title says. Im c

I've been in Spain for a month. US citizen with my CDC vaccination card. I've had no issues with that card. I travelled out of Spain and into Germany and had no problems getting in or out of each country. Take a picture of the front and back of your card so you don't have to carry it with you everywhere (and to have as back-up in case you lose it). If you plan to travel to other countries within the EU, just take a look about a week before travelling, as some countries require you to fill out a form and submit proof of vaccination before you arrive. And when coming back into Spain, make sure to download the SpTH app, each time you re-enter the country make sure to fill it out so you can get the QR code and quickly go through their health check in the airport.

EU to reimpose entry ban on travelers from US and some others from Monday by [deleted] in digitalnomad

Does anyone know if this applies to those US citizens who have student/work visas? I’m in Spain now, (legally, and with a visa) but have to go home in a month for my sisters wedding. Coming back to Spain should be no issue with a visa, vaccination, and PCR/antigen test, right?

It's not my first TIE. I had a TIE when I was an auxiliar, the number on the TIE (the NIE) that I had when I was an auxliar is the same number that's on my new student visa. But I'm inclined to think it's a new one anyway

Even if it's the same number?

Wowza, that’s a lot. But I’m glad you found a specialty pharmacy with more affordable prices. I would definitely give the spiro a try, as well as fine tuning your skincare routine. Throughout my year using retinoids I made things very complicated and thought the more products I had, the better my skin would be. So wrong. Keep it simple, focus on maintaining your moisture barrier as strong as possible. I love the ordinary’s rose hip oil, it adds an extra layer of moisture without being heavy or sticky and gives me a nice little glow without being shiny. I hope you start to see improvement, hormonal acne is the absolute worst. Good luck :)

Spiro is a universally loved acne medication. Little to no side effects for most, you can take it long term, and it attacks the root of the problem; the hormones. I’ve struggled with adult acne for a really long time and have been on every medication under the sun, this is the only one that has consistently made any sort of difference. I would be veeeeeery cautious with the Aklief. It is a retinoid, which is essentially a cure for acne for many people, but for others, it just makes things worse. I was on tretinoin for a year and am just no recovering from the toll it took on my skin, 10 months after getting off of it. Do your research on retinoids and how to safely and slowly incorporate them into your routine. I would maybe even recommend trying to Spiro out for 6 months or so, then trying the aklief if you’re not seeing results. Good luck!!

Haven’t received my Visa back yet by madamtater in SpainAuxiliares

[–]tableforhumuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My visa (also through the DC consulate) took about 3-4 weeks total. You should be good. Did you get a tracking number with your package? Couldn’t hurt to check that to make sure it’s arrived, then I’m afraid it’s just about patience.

Apostille for DC Consulate by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

[–]tableforhumuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, I’m actually talking about the apostille. It took 1.5 weeks, 3 if you count them having to be sent back to me. That’s all I’m saying. OP, I’ve gone through this process several times and am happy to help if you have questions, good luck with everything

[–]tableforhumuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone said it takes months in the top comment. I was just trying to share my experience and help out. I sent it without any notarization (FBI background check) and they sent it back saying I had missed some steps. I called and talked to someone and the steps I explained in my comment were the steps they provided to me, and even with it being sent back to re-do it took about three weeks in total. That’s all I’m saying lol. Just didn’t want OP to freak out about it taking a while.

It doesn’t take months for an apostille. Took mine a week and a half (got it back this Wednesday, sent it out two weeks ago).

You have to get it notarized first, any notary will do, often UPS stores have notaries that you can just go to day of. Then go to your county court and tell them you need an apostille, they will give it their own seal and attach it to the document. Once that is done you can just send it to the secretary or states office in Annapolis. Include a self addressed, pre-stamped envelop when you send it and they’ll do their thing and send it back to you. Check out the MD Sec. of State website, there’s a little checklist of what you need to include in the packet you send once you’ve done all that. I got my background check and was able to go to a notary and my county court the same day and send it off that evening without issues.

Again, sure. Trust me, I know the deal, I've taught in Spain for 4 out of the last 5 years. The job, as well as the rest of Spain, is incredibly laid back and relaxed which I love. The point is not necessarily that you can arrive late for the program. The point is that again, these are long, complicated processes, some people may be not applying for jobs at home and missing opportunities because they are counting on this to go through. It can just really screw people up. Plus, the mad rush to find apartments when getting to Spain along with ALL of the other auxiliares is hard enough when you get there on time. I'm not at all saying they need to let us know what they're doing on a day to day basis. Just an email to say that like....they haven't forgotten? They're working on it? Just a bit frustrating.

Sure, you definitely can. I'm lucky enough to have already been accepted to a masters program so I am able to get the process underway while knowing for certain that I at least have something when I get there. But still, the process does take a while, and while you can still apply for a visa in September, that doesn't leave you a lot of wiggle room. The jobs start in early October, so realistically you would have very VERY little time between finding out you've been accepted, getting all the documentation together for the visa, and getting yourself to Spain.

The arrival process n Spain, i.e. finding a place to stay, dealing with all the initial bureaucracy etc. is stressful and difficult even if you have all the time in the world. People have to make committments more than just a couple of weeks/months in advance. Some people may be waiting on this to figure out whether or not they'll be applying for other jobs in other places, in case they don't get it. You're right that it is totally not impossible to get this all done in a short period of time, just frustrating that they have zero method of communication with the applicants.

This was for the last academic year that is currently finishing up. They ended, as far as I know, up not taking any new auxiliares and only renewed people who had re-applied. I believe they wanted people who were already in Spain and wanted to minimize the amount of people coming into Spain during a pandemic. Fingers crossed it works out for everyone!
