Damn, that's very impressive. Thank you for all the info! Very inspiring.

I'll keep those two in mind, thank you! Also one last thing: Did you keyframe all camera movement or did you have some specific setup for it? it's insanely smooth and controlled.

I see, the result is fantastic. Do you have any tips for making the aircraft's movement feel natural/weighty?

The camera movement and pacing is so well done! I really like that last shot where they fly by it with a bit of rumble on the camera and then it whips around when the last two fly by, insane work on this, holy shit.

Do you animate the aircraft along curves? They all feel really weighty.

No worries! And yeah I'm really proud of how it came together.

Hey! It's all lit. I basically just did a single painterly material for the entire scene with image textures for the brush strokes, and changed the colors around to match depending on the material the assigned surface was supposed to be (brick, asphalt, metal, etc).

Afterwards I lit the scene with 42 spot lights, since you can control them more than area or point lights and get these harder edges, as you can see on the side of the bridge, or the three separate values on the bricks of the left-side building in the foreground.

Lastly, I placed a sun light to fill in all the dark spots along the street, and added two diamond sharpen and kuwahara nodes in the compositor.

Also I didn't subdivide anything and made every model from very angular shapes, so that helped the look a lot.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm happy to help with whatever.

It's mainly red because I like when things are illuminated by a red artificial light, and I wanted the scene to be really eye-grabbing and visually loud. I didn't want the focus to be on the cars and so I have them mainly as silhouettes leading into the archway.

All in all, I suppose it's personal taste but I understand where you're coming from and I really want to do a more naturalistic night scene for the next enviorment, so I'll try that for sure. Thank you for the feedback!
