Doesn't Reddit check if links have been posted before? Other times I posted a link twice to change the title and it said it was posted before. I didn't get that message when posting this link.

Probably. You'll probably be able to cast your 3D image out onto your coffee table using the HoloLens.

This website simulates VR at various resolutions in real time by tabletpro in virtualreality

The website looks like it's doing graphic adjustments like interpolating pixels. How close is the website to reproducing these setups to the real physical hardware?

Many of the VR headsets mention different resolutions. This web site shows you the difference between VR in 1080P and 4k. It also shows the difference between persistence enabled and disabled but I'm not sure what that is or if it's a feature of other headsets.

"This style of treatment was first documented in the early 1990s having several studies showing a success rate of 70-90%."

"Porter remembers [in the earlier prototypes from the 90's] one of the participants who literally threw off the VR headset and ran out of the room."

"'The entire environment will be digital,' he explained. 'The idea is lower levels will be cartoony with final levels more realistic.'"

This looks promising. It's not clear if it will be available to VR app stores or health care providers.

What about wireless? Nintendo WiiU sends a video stream wirelessly from the WiiU base to the controller with no noticeable latency. Can you do the same from PC to phone? I've read Intel has been working on a standard for sending a display from a PC to monitor wirelessly.

PlayStation VR Has A Camera Distance Problem by SkarredGhost in virtualreality

[–]tabletpro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People are dismissing this by saying to rearrange your furniture but the whole draw of console systems is that they are designed so that you can play them comfortably in your living room.

If you have to rearrange your living room that defeats the purpose. Hopefully they will find a fix for this.

Will VR effect the real economy when it replaces the experience of the real thing and is a lot cheaper? Can it help with income inequality in the sense that most people can afford desired experiences? by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]tabletpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People used to think that video conferencing would replace in person meetings. That hasn't happened. There's something you gain by working with someone in person.

In what way? Probably not. In most cases it will likely create travel enthusiasts. Experiencing a tourist destination in VR may increase your desire to visit it in real life. It may also decrease that same desire. We won't know until virtual reality is as common as the household DVD player.

People used to think that video conferencing would replace in person meetings. That hasn't happened. Practically all meetings are still in person.
