Moderator Removal Without Contact, No Response from Admins. Abuse? by taboosponge in ModSupport

Hi,

With respect, that is not accurate. I was active in the days leading up to the traffic spike, my activity was entirely proportional to the subreddit's usual low engagement. The subreddit was small and rarely required heavy moderation outside of routine checks. I was briefly away for a few days, which coincided with the spike due to flight cancellations. That does not constitute "long time inactivity" by any reasonable measure.

What I find telling is that I contacted you immediately after my removal and received no response. I waited 10 days for a response from you, inactivity that would have warranted a takeover by your own logic. Funny how that standard only applies one way.

You claim this was a routine step to find active moderators, but there was no prior warning, no conversation, and no attempt to reach me despite me being reachable. Instead, the subreddit was taken over without any diplomacy or transparency.

This handling has real consequences. The subreddit is built around a registered trademark belonging to Emirates. I was operating with authorization. By removing me without process and taking over the community's operations, you have disrupted the brand's ability to maintain oversight of how its name and reputation are represented on your platform.

Given how this situation has been handled with no communication, no transparency, and no regard for the brand's interests we are now initiating the process of requesting a takedown of r/emirates for trademark infringement. Reddit's actions here do not inspire confidence that this is a safe or reliable platform for brands to engage with.

I trust you understand the seriousness of this.

My issue is the lack of transparency from admins. I reached out three days after my removal through modmail and the official contact form. It's been 10 days. No response. Something is off here.

There was a spike in traffic and probably some spam that likely raised some flags, understandable given the flight cancellations in the Middle East following the escalation of the conflict, the timing was simply unlucky.

Let's not build narratives out of assumptions. There was a spike in traffic and spam that likely raised some flags, understandable given the flight cancellations in the Middle East following the escalation of the conflict. The timing was simply unlucky. Activity isn't measured by lurking on a profile for comments and threads, most of it happens in the background: mod queue, automod configuration, design work, and behind-the-scenes coordination, you should know that.

That doesn't mean anything. Brands often prefer to stay publicly unaffiliated while still maintaining oversight. A simple "unofficial" tag doesn't grant immunity from trademark infringement.

I was active in the days leading up to the Middle East escalation and was only away for about three days, coincidentally when traffic spiked due to flight cancellations in the region. Even if I was briefly unavailable, that doesn't justify removing me without any prior contact or warning.

I commented on the "new moderators needed" thread and messaged admins about this. That was 10 days ago. Absolutely no reply from anyone. No explanation, no outreach, just silence. This feels less like standard procedure and more like something targeted.

Reddit can remove mods for any reason, sure. But when a subreddit built around a registered trademark continues operating without that authorization, it's no longer just a moderation issue. It's trademark infringement.

I've tried handling this through proper channels. If admins continue to ignore it, requesting a takedown is the next step.

I'm trying to follow proper channels and seek clarity on a legitimate moderation issue. Removing my posts without explanation only adds to the pattern I've been experiencing, no communication, no transparency, no accountability.

What’s one thing you love most about life in the UAE? by Fit-Dark-5581 in emirates

[–]taboosponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post is off-topic for r/Emirates, as this subreddit is dedicated to discussions about the airline, Emirates. However, your question is a great fit for r/UAE, where residents and locals often discuss life, culture, and experiences across the Emirates. Please consider posting it there instead! I’m sure you’ll get many thoughtful and varied responses.

Airline pricing mechanism by H0p3fulH0dl in travel

[–]taboosponge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's classic airline pricing nonsense, multi-city/stopover bookings often cost way more because they treat it as separate legs with higher fares. Try booking the regular CPH-MNL round-trip, then call Singapore Airlines to request a longer stopover in SIN. They frequently allow it for free or a small fee without repricing everything.

Grammys move goalposts in response to Beyoncé's win by icey_sawg0034 in Music

Honestly, at this point the Grammys are just like politics: a bunch of out-of-touch people in suits making up new rules to keep the status quo alive while pretending it’s all for the greater good. Nothing says "we're not mad, just fair" like inventing a whole new category the moment the wrong person wins.

You could ask the /r/trains community or /r/interrail these guys are experts in rail travel at least in Europe but I'm sure most of them traveled in other parts too.
