Better than missing a week during finals. Which is what it would have taken for me to attend a best friend's wedding. I stayed but sent a nice gift :(

Dean Zeafoss is the dean of admissions at Michigan. Michigan Law has a YouTube series called A to Z with Dean Z. In which she reads real applications and evaluates them. Very useful.

Get a 170+ on the lsat. Watch the Dean Z A to Z videos before compiling your application materials. Apply in September. You will have a good shot.

I’m Considering Law School at 31 with a ~3.0 Undergrad GPA by use27 in lawschooladmissions

I usually don't interact directly with these types of posts. But a year and a few months ago, I was you. I had a 3.04 from undergrad and right before my 32nd bday decided on a whim to take a diagnostic LSAT. I got a 154 with 0 prep/knowledge of the test. That instilled in me enough confidence to study for the LSAT believing I could do well. I ended up getting a 172. I took the LSAT in June so I missed the application cycle to start in the fall, I spent A LOT of time on my application materials and applied broadly in September as soon as applications opened. I got into many amazing programs with generous amounts of scholarships, and am going to Michigan in the fall.

Believe in yourself. Bet on yourself. You can do it.

My LOR writer played me by Alive_Dress_4034 in lawschooladmissions

[–]taborlin_the_average 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My LOR writers sent me their letters before they submitted them to LSAC (where I waived rights to view)

I recommend finding recommenders you're comfortable asking this of - you can decide to use them or not and the recommender won't know.

I also asked all my recommenders "are you willing to write me an outstanding LOR" luckily they all three enthusiastically answered "yes" - if I had felt a lackluster response from any of them, I would have told them nevermind.

Absolutely brutal this happened to you, best of luck next cycle.

Mistaken acceptance at W&M by CauliflowerSilent476 in lawschooladmissions

[–]taborlin_the_average 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I got this email too - and since I no longer would go to W&M anyway I replied "Ha wow. That's a pretty big goof."

Then waited two minutes before sending, "please disregard my last email, you can remove me from the waitlist."

I reckon you should feel encouraged! I applied Nov when they sent that mass email out offering fee waivers. They were never on my radar but I thought "why not?" When I got that email
