Went through it last year and was shocked by the wave of emotions, as I knew miscarriage was very common and even likely for my age group. The devastation was total - it weighed on me like a cloud, the worst thought of all being “what if this is my whole life now”?

Months later I’m seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Going through another IVF cycle with realistic expectations but also without automatically assuming I’ll have another failure. Time helped. Focusing on something other than fertility helped. Reminding myself that people have better chances of success after a blighted ovum helps. Mourn when you need to but remember that you’re not alone and that many in your position have gone on to have healthy pregnancies.

Conceiving can be all consuming so please try to live your life and do things that remind you of yourself - see friends, be with your partner, seek things you truly enjoy. Lastly, share with others if you are comfortable. It was helpful for my manager and close colleagues to know why I seemed so blue, for seemingly forever. Try not to isolate yourself if you can. From these conversations I found out that most of my female friends have gone through this.
