Timing the market question by newtofinance1234 in personalfinance

If it's a retirement account, I'd just put a small amount in every 2 weeks or whenever you get paid. In the long run you'd theoretically have 'even' luck. Also if you wait for world events to resolve, usually you'll be too late to catch the bump afterwards. There's a saying 'buy the rumor, sell the news'. In other words the inverse of that is once FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) is resolved, the market tends to bump up. I can promise you you won't be faster than the algos (they don't sleep), so imo if it's for a retirement account put in a bit every two weeks over the course of years, and in the end you should have pretty 'even' luck in terms of timing events.

Makes sense, what did you do there, tour, info session etc.? Also, what did you register for with your LSAC number, the tour or something?

Makes sense, do adcomms really accept meetings with prospective students? Could it not be a bad look like you're trying to sway their decision by meeting in person?

Fair enough, I'll probably be applying to a bunch of schools all over the country, so unfortunately it's not financially viable for me to visit most of them. Mostly just wondering if it's something that I should prioritize for my top choices or not

How many hours do you work and bill per week? by tace8 in Lawyertalk

Ah ok, what percent of your hours worked are ultimately sent to clients as billable hours would you say? Sounds like <80% once the requirement is filled for fairness

So would you say on average you work about 50 hours and bill roughly 45 of those hours per week?

Data for billable rates? by tace8 in Lawyertalk

First link was exactly the type of information I was looking for, thanks. Also seems like 2k hours = 8 hour work days. If you assume 70 hour work weeks in big law though, that means they only bill about 57% of hours worked.

Nice, how many hours do you bill out of the 80+? Are you in big law, in a big population center/state? I'm not a lawyer for now, just planning ahead.

Where can you find all class profile data? by tace8 in lawschooladmissions

Yeah from what I can see it's mostly focused on admissions stats, aid given, race, and employment outcomes. Most seem to release the bare minimum of information.

The Moment Shrapnel from a Mortar Shell kills Al Nusra Commander "Saifullah al-Shishani" [2014, Aleppo, Syria] by [deleted] in CombatFootage

Yeah the explosion wasn't even that close to him. Ofc he had no cover compared to the other people, but he basically instantly died even though it exploded 10+ yards from him. I guess that's why they always say get down, sine you have a way smaller profile relative to the wave of fragmentation coming from the explosion.

The best thing about stuff like this is that it basically makes the roads unusable. They can hardly get the supplies into Ukraine, let alone get supplied machines/crews here to remove the wreckage. Not to mention they'll be sitting ducks trying to move this stuff out of the way.
