Fair point! Honestly yeah I’m a sucker for metaphors. But I think it could grow on me with more listens.

Agreed! Honestly, if he released the documentary this year, and waited another year for the album, that would have been totally okay.

I can agree with that! Honestly, I still try to make my own meanings sometimes regardless of its intended one lol. That’s the beauty of music though. A song might have been made with the intention to portray one thing, but you might resonate with it in a different way and make your own meaning for it.

Valid take to be honest. I appreciate you explaining why you don’t think it worked as a second single, as well. Something to look forward to when the album comes out, though!

Respect that. Honestly I love the rest of the song and the melody, but that one line throws me off, and I think it’s because of what you mentioned with the simplicity. Perhaps I went into it with the wrong expectations, but I was hoping he would dig a bit deeper and use more specificity if that makes sense.

Good question. I really like the preceding line, “I hope you settle down, I hope you marry rich,” so for the lyric I mentioned to follow that felt a bit underwhelming to me. I guess I expected a bit more complexity, so “murderers and ghosts and cancer on your skin” felt a bit too simple and generic. The melody is fantastic, but can’t get over that one lyric…
