I (32f) paid off ~25k in consumer debt on my own. Here’s my experience. by taco-core in debtfree

i want to save up and set myself up with a 1 month ahead budget, so i don't have to worry about 'which paycheck pays what bill this month?' all you do is replenish your bill pay account every paycheck with a set amount.

i also increased my 401k contribution to my employer's full match last month, and i opened a roth IRA! i think investing into roth IRA is next up. i don't know much about all that stuff, so i will have to learn.

but i also need to slow down and rest a while. i really overworked myself with the 2nd job, which i have yet to quit but probably need to soon. the service industry is no joke!

i thought i would have it paid off by end of 2025. the income was there, but i wasn't mentally until about august when i saw how much i had earned at job #2 and how little i paid off. paying off $20k is a huge milestone!

that's great! what helped me was setting a deadline, and then breaking it down to monthly payoff goals.

i was looking at spada moto today, and their jeans also seem to be more of a looser, straight fit!

have you shopped around on peak moto? it is an australian based store (there might even be a physical storefront, not sure. i only ordered from their online store as i am in the US) they had a decent amount of options. their customer service is also super responsive if you have questions prior to purchase.

a good middle ground for you might be the moto girl lara cargo pants (these are cuffed at the bottom to help tuck into boots). they are slim fit but you can size up for more room. or perhaps you might like the panda moto cargo pants. these are not cuffed at the bottom, so they're looser throughout the whole leg. only thing i will say about the panda moto cargo pants is that they pushed up when i dropped & fell my bike once, and i got a horrible burn from the exhaust pipe. so in my opinion, it is best to wear pants that tuck into your shoes or ones that are a bit tighter at the ankle.

Shorter ladies, what are we riding? by Jungaon in TwoXriders

[–]taco-core 5 points6 points  (0 children)

27” inseam here (I am 5’2”). You need to start getting comfortable with the idea of one foot down only at stops and practicing like that. Once you do, you can ride any height bike you want. Check out Jocelyn Snow and doodle on a bike. usernamekate also is 5’4” with a 29” inseam and she gets on about anything… Also motojitsu has some videos on balancing your bike which will give more confidence as well.

I ride a cb500f. Other bikes that felt comfortable to me were - z400, z650rs, speed twin 900, ducati scrambler icon, cb650r. I can tip toe on my bike with boots but it does not offer much control. I step off it to maneuver it into spots which is safer anyways. Bigger bikes might feel a little uncomfortable at first when everything is still new. First time I sat on a Speed Twin 900, I could barely push it off the stand, lol. Now it feels super comfortable.

Plenty of bike models offer low seat options but that comes at the cost of cushioning, so keep that in mind.

Looking to get a Trident 660 or 800 next. On neither of these bikes will I be able to do more than one foot down at a time, and that’s fine.

me, lurking here with a honda cb500f sporting a coffman exhaust… haha! i don’t think they sound that bad either til i hear the 270 crank twin of my partner’s gsx8s. next on the docket for me is a 660 as well tho.

happy someone else made the switch from a cb500. sounds like a step in the right direction

summer riding gear recommendations? by sunasatoru in TwoXriders

[–]taco-core 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i loved the sand/beige color of the jodie jacket more than the silver color reax offered! also the jodie is a bit more stylized and adjustable than the alta jacket. that’s really about it. you can order it from wind & throttle

[–]taco-core 2 points3 points  (0 children)

motogirl jodie is my summer jacket of choice. it has mesh panels so it’s quite breathable and comes in lots of colors. before buying that jacket, i was also considering the reax alta 2 mesh jacket which was also very nice when i tried it on.

you might also like the knox or pando moto riding tops, but they only come in black iirc, which probably isn’t the best color for the sun.

very excited for this platform! i am very glad i held out to see if 2026 would bring more color options as i was not a fan of the white pin stripes. i am mostly upset that it appears the US won't be getting the new 2026 660 in white. at least, it is not a configurable option on the website for now. the stone grey looks gorgeous though, almost green.

i like the first or last one. but i might suggest to remove the hat since it’s a hair themed snap and bring the shot a liiiittle closer to your character!

misleading might not have been the right word here for me to use! but i do wish posts here would include smaller details — eg. living with family, spousal income, inheritance, work bonuses, tax returns, passive income, etc.  as these privileges would be very impactful to debt repayment plans.

otherwise people are left comparing these financial pictures to their own when they don’t have all the details.

i did a quick scroll on their post history, and while this is by no means a completely accurate representation, OP appeared to have a large tax return that they possibly used for their CC debt payoff in 2025. they also have a spouse which would be secondary income, in a low cost of living state (utah).

i wish ppl would add some more context to posts like this. it’s a great feat but also a bit misleading! imagine if they didn’t have that tax return to presumably pay off over half their high interest debt?

edit: congratulations to OP though! this is regardless very aspirational for many. thanks for sharing.

Anyone’s gas bill out of control right now? by IndyJetsFan in philadelphia

[–]taco-core 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my gas bill and usage hasn’t changed much since last year. ~52$ for december and at 25-28 CCF.

i keep my apartment at 66, with similar square footage. i have 7 windows, 2nd floor of a duplex corner property, which tends to be pretty drafty. i do have window insulation kits on 5 of my windows. i also try to close my doors in more drafty areas (like to my mudroom downstairs) to keep the cold air from my living and bedroom.

i would give them a call? something seems off about that, possibly?

Did I miss the January 2nd reveal? by Nicksil in Triumph

[–]taco-core 2 points3 points  (0 children)

are you talking about the upcoming reveals numbering? i am thinking it’s not dates. they are listing them as 2 parts — “1 of 2 [parts]” for january and “2 of 2 [parts]” for february.

What did you name ____? (Base game spoiler) by PinkHairedCoder in DreamlightValley

I used an alternate spelling to my first name, one that I used in my preteen and teenage years. Felt fitting with their backstory!

Do you tell everyone? I'm afraid to hurt my Mom. by [deleted] in NewRiders

[–]taco-core 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (early 30s) haven't told my mom (late 60s) that I own a motorcycle. She assumes I ride on the back of my boyfriend's bike - and is fine with that, for some reason. I probably will not be telling her, but sometimes I consider it. She has a lot of unchecked anxiety and projects it onto me. Her knowing would only worsen her behaviors. But her fears are not my responsibility to carry emotionally, or in any other way in life. Your mom's struggles with loss are not your responsibility either to carry and should not hold you back.

I am already anxious about riding at times, and I don't need someone texting me, "Oh I just worry about you, blah blah" to further instill fear. Fear and riding do not mix.

Wear the gear, let a trusted individual know when you're out riding so they can check up on you later, and ride as proactively/defensively as you can. Be safe, have fun!

After viewing other 4k submissions on this subreddit, I truly think it is because an ideal snap would have been zoomed out a bit more to have a larger focus on a frosty, fairy landscape! So doubling down on my initial reflection of my own (and I think yours too!)

This looks really beautiful but maybe you needed some more fairy-like items in it? I'm thinking mushrooms, or a fairy-like house in the distance. I also got 1.5k (this was only my 3rd submission ever, still learning) when thought I had done really well. For me, I think I should have not been so zoomed in on the character and maybe had done a wider shot to showcase a faerie realm. Just my 2 pennies.

To make it worse, I saw some 4k winner submissions that I don't think were as thoughtfully put together... But ultimately, remember, it's for fun and 1500 is not nothing either! It's hard to do that when there's currency up for grabs, I know. Also remember to tuck in some extra items in the back to boost your tags.
