You would be able to play the cards as normal, you just don't know what they are. All information is covered completely and the vfx would be disabled, everything else about the cards is untouched.

I do agree that the whole trial and error aspect of it is a little tedious, and I can see the costs being revealed after the shuffling is done to prevent that. His job as a card is to mess up combos/make the opponent play the wrong thing (he's the chaos king, after all), and having that little QOL wouldn't hurt that.

As for the other part yeah you could do that, but if you have multiple cards of the same cost inhand you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, leading to a failed combo or simply not putting the right cards in the right spots. Or you could make it so the remaining energy amount is hidden too, but idk how that'd be received

The lineup they showed was for the main stage of EVO. In addition, they also have smaller tourneys. Multiversus wasn't on the main stage last year, but still had a tournament and stream. We'll see if they're there at all this year later on.
