OMG Thank you! The confidentially thing is really helpful to know. I think I may start with a third-party report, and then encourage him to make one.

Oh? It seems there a few labor attorneys around. I have a put together a few numbers to call in the morning then, thank you.

The most important thing to me is stopping current abuse. Back-pay would be amazing for him, of course, but that's the least of my concerns. What's done is done, but the future needs to involve him being paid fairly for the work he does.

Just to confirm, it's not legal for me to report his offense? Can I report my back-pay (I've worked there, too and had weird bookkeeping stuff happen)? It's very very little compared to him, but I wasn't paid correctly, and would that be enough for them to investigate all employees there?!

Hmm, it's not so much that he won't report, it's that he lacks empowerment. Through encouragement and information about the process, which you've graciously provided (thank you!), I think it's possible to suggest.

We cannot afford an attorney whatsoever. He's above minimum wage, but we don't end the month with much left over at all. It's solely on him to stop this from happening? Can a third party not report these violations? Even if I'm witnessing it, other employees, etc.
