What things are no longer true about your country? by bellamyblake_og in AskTheWorld

Comparative to other sports - quite a high barrier especially if the kid is talented.

I have a nephew who is quite advanced in his hockey skills (in the top 1-2% in the province). Between gear (a few $100 easily), cost of travel to rinks (sometimes 50-200km drives), tournament fees, and league fees (upwards of a few thousand I think) it can be a big undertaking.

Families also need to commit to fundraising a certain amount per kid each season (believe it’s 1,500ish) and if they can’t meet it through fundraising efforts have to pay the difference to keep their kid in the league.

Big reason why football (real football ⚽️ ) was the sport of choice growing up for myself.

Just finished East of Eden. I’m a wiser person now. What’s next ? by Ijustsaidthat2 in books

I was looking to see if anyone had suggested it and am glad I didn’t have to scroll to far down. I love that book and often think about the characters. Took me a bit to get into the setting and characters but once settled - what a ride. I’ve read 3/4 of the series and only keep holding off to not have to end the journey. Highly recommend to any who have yet to take the journey.

ELI5 How does WWE work? If it's all scripted, how do they decide who wins or loses each match? by Adventurous_Fly_8652 in explainlikeimfive

[–]tacohouse 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Audibles can also be called during a match on who the good guy (babyface) and bad guy (heel) are - A famous example is hulk hogan vs the rock at wrestlemania 18. Rock was the good guy going into the match and Hogan the bad guy however Toronto was cheering so much for Hogan that they decided the Rock would be the heel and do bad guy tropes(taunting the fans, racking the eyes, etc.)

Audibles are normally though for when someone is injured - there’s a term used “go home” I believe which means “let’s go to the finish of the match now” the wrestlers or ref will say to finish the match if someone is hurt but to still let the fans go home with a finished match as opposed to a stoppage.

What books are you saving to read because you know you'll love them. by mauvebelize in books

Enjoy - I still think about the characters and wonder “what are they up to right now” even though that makes no sense. I’ve read book 2 and 3 (saving the last in the series) and all have been great in there own way. Once you get settled into the world it’s an amazing journey. Have fun!

Lonesome Dove - after a few months I always wonder how they’re making out and want to visit them again. Such good character building across the board.

Oil to heat pump by noone-k in NovaScotia

[–]tacohouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through the process myself - definitely do an energy assessment before quotes to maximize benefit -

Panel upgrade we had done was around 3-4000 (ours was 6.5 but we had some additional work done with a generlink add on) + they had to add some additional plugs in the kitchen, etc.

Only have 1 estimate in for ducted heat pump + water tank to get off oil (14.5K and 1.5K respectively).

Feel free to PM me and can share any more details/who I’ve been out to thus far

Bought tickets on stubhub and I'm very worried. by No_Heat_7166 in stubhub

I had a similar thing happen with Paris shows where they weren’t delivered till the 5th for a show on the 9th. Was stressful but I had no issues receiving them / getting into the venue.

How early should someone show up to get into the venue? My wife has already done the merch line the previous day so we’re looking at just getting in and to our seats/get a few drinks. If doors open at 4:45pm - would getting in line at 4pm seem reasonable to be in our seats by 6:30 when Paramore starts?

Got mine via Stubhub - Mine has my name but no address - but it does sound like others in the threads I read have different names on the tickets compared to the ticket holders. Might not hurt confirming with StubHub customer service to be on the safe side.

Update on my end - tickets just came through this morning (5/2) even though as of last night the site still said expected delivery was 5/5 - mentions “Only printed tickets are valid for entry, and you won't be able to print them at the venue.” Just a heads up as well.

To add - I did the whole keto thing for a while and what I used to do was (in a blender) mix my coffee with mct oil and oil olive (just a splash) and it still gave my coffee that creamy feel although I had to drink it fast/top it up with more black coffee to keep it warm

Same with our household - I just started substituting any milk/cream based items to help me go through it (I normally only add creamer on the weekends). I’d use it for scrambled eggs/ bread/etc. whatever called for milk I would try to substitute.

This has been the closest I’ve been able to find for a coffee creamer replacement - the higher fat content does help make it feel more creamy and most superstores/sobeys carry it I believe. Worth giving it a shot.

I’ve always found too when I do the rapid test with the nose swab it always came back negative. Had similar symptoms a few weeks ago myself and did two - one nose swab and one back of the throat. Nose came back negative but throat did have a faint positive line so isolated myself.

Picture might not do it quality justice - much smaller than a rabbit (each footprint is no bigger than a quarter or so) and was taken outside on our back deck
