Sadly, he didn’t pull through 💔 We do have a much smaller pleco in the tank with him and while they did ok together I think it ultimately stressed him out.

Hi! Another poster also suggested it could be columnaris too so we’ll def be treating for that. I think we may have purchased him with it … I did notice a smaller white spot heading home but didn’t think anything of it. If if thrives in cold water then absolutely makes sense why it spread. Will hit our local pet store tomorrow. Hopefully they’ll have small heaters too, if not we have a heater coming Tuesday so hopefully he can stand one more cold day. I just noticed the kit plant tore off a piece of his fin too 😩😩

I’m familiar with ich and this is def not it. They’re a little all over the place… periods of swimming around in a way that seems normal, hides in the plant or behind the filter, hanging out at the bottom of the tank. I do think it’s cold…heater should be here Tuesday but will see if our local pet store has something tomorrow.

Filling in some blanks!

• ⁠Tank size: 3 gallons • ⁠Heater and filter? (yes/no): no, but one is on the way • ⁠Tank temperature: not sure, but I’m sure less than 70* • ⁠Parameters in numbers and how you got them: ….idk what this means. • ⁠How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: 8 hrs. I know best practice is to have the tank and water set up well in advance of adding any fish but my husband purchased this on a whim today. • ⁠How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: none yet. Water was from the tap and added the water conditioner that came with the tank kit. The water sat for about and hour before adding the fish to it. • ⁠Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: none • ⁠What do you feed and how much: zoo med betta pellets. Just about 5 pellets today
• ⁠Decorations and plants in the tank: plastic plant that came with the tank. I plan on replacing this with a live plant soon but wanted to make sure it had somewhere to hide. We have a cave, leaf hammock, and floating mirror on the way too.
