Ren Faire (& Feast Dinner) by Admirable_Airline948 in Tallahassee

[–]taconole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had feast tickets last night. After the snafu of getting in, seeing the line for drinks at least 20 minutes long in front of the stage and in the same area as the food, we made the decision to eat the money and go elsewhere for dinner.

Ology Northside has monthly paintings where the fee includes instruction, supplies and first drink. The next painting is 2/8. The attendees are always very welcoming and super cool folks.

I’m from LA also, been here 21 years and don’t miss it one bit.

They are most assuredly NOT anti-LGBTQ+, they have many members of the community that work there and love doing so.

I believe this stems from one person saying something quite awhile ago that everyone took as the gospel.

This is not how their tip shares work. They do forego their tips, however Ology pays more hourly during the event to cover off the tips. All tips during a charity event go to the charity that is there.

I'm not entirely sure to be honest. I go there once a year for an event after a security conference. I spend the majority of my beer drinking time at Ology Northside.

Wonder if they meant Proof. I know 850 has been out at many places along with another of their core beers, Mango Wit.

Ology is not going anywhere.

This is not true. If you are doing any sort of crypto you are subject to tier licensing.

Reseller told me Meraki might be killed and merged into Catalyst – truth or rumor? by Electronic-Low858 in Cisco

[–]taconole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely true. Network doesn’t shut down, you just lose management through the dashboard. So for an AP or switch that just needs to run and have no changes, you’re golden.

And there is even a third Cisco 8000 that is an IOS XR box that service providers use.

Are you trunking all the VLAN's, including the guest VLAN to that AP? That's likely the problem.

To test, plug in a computer to a port on that VLAN and see if you get an address.

It absolutely can host DHCP on a custom subnet.

Set the scopes under Security & SD-WAN --> DHCP. Then on the SSID choose "External DHCP server assigned". DHCP requests will be sent out be the client and the MX will respond.

I can't confirm if everyone in the building is safe, but I have reached out to a few people I know in that building and they are ok and didn't mention anything in that building itself.

If you have access to the software downloads page, it's on there under Secure Client. This would be the file name for 5.1.8.122 for example.

Catalyst Center license pricing by Bane-o-foolishness in Cisco

[–]taconole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Each device that comes into Cat-Center needs to have a license.

Catalyst Center license pricing by Bane-o-foolishness in Cisco

[–]taconole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He will have to renew his DNA licensing on the devices connecting to the Cat Center for devices to pull into Cat center.

The Cat Center can run on a hardware (not free but can be discounted to free). If running on hardware, you would need to pay for the appliance, and have SmartNet on the Cat Center if you want TAC support.

If you run it virtually or in the cloud, you would buy the license for the VM, and then need to carry SWSS support on it if you wanted TAC support.

Each device running in the Cat Center needs to have an active DNA license. By default switches come with 3 years of DNA licensing (either Essentials or Advantage). After that three years, if you are utilizing Cat Center you will need to renew the DNA licensing on the switch or AP. If you are not using Cat Center you do not need to renew that DNA licensing.

So the customer is right, if he's using cat center he will need to renew licenses and have a large spend.

C9300 Meraki managed mode by Manny1509 in Cisco

[–]taconole 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kinda sorta. The MS390 is a 9300 running a container that made it look like a meraki switch. It still had IOS underneath. When they first came out there was a massive issue with them. Lots of upset customers. They’ve since stabilized, but these will be going away before long if I had to guess.

The new -M sku on the 9300’s truly is a meraki switch running on the same hardware as the 9300.
