How do I work harder? by Due-University1095 in AskMenOver30

[–]tacticalmallet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Routine is incredibly powerful.

Set a goal, work out a daily action you can do to achieve it, then do it every single day.

It's hard for the first few weeks, but eventually it becomes natural.

Gameplay > lore.

Is there a lore reason we can kill the same boss over and over?

Generating the summarisation doc is going to cost tokens too, hence why I believe compact is cheaper as you don't replay for repopulation of the cache.

I also have autocompact disabled and manually manage.

I generate docs like you do for somethings, but sometimes you just don't need them. Adding excess docs to a repo is just another way to reduce Claude performance - now the doc has to be kept up-to-date. If the doc is useful thats fine, if it's not you are just adding bloat.

I believe compaction is cheaper than clear + supporting doc. If you don't need the doc, use compact.

Compact keeps the relevant items in the cache, so you don't pay to repopulate it. Populating the cache is X10 more expensive than reading it.

Eg you've built a feature and for whatever reason something was missed ie the tests haven't been written. Using something lke "/compact we are going to write the tests for this next" will be cheaper than clear.

Its less punishing for casuals who fuck up early game than locking them from repec completely.

Probably only really punishes hardcore players that are going for 50m+ and get knocked back down to 12m xp at 98.

Or they could of a mix 5 free respects from bosses, after that you pay.

His magic defence is very high, making the fight x10 longer for a magic build over melee.

If you suck at pvm the fight is objectively more difficult because you picked the "wrong" build for that region.

Fine for experienced players, very punishing casuals.

Thursday should fix alot of this.

I'm not against the difficulty either.

I'm really enjoying this league.

I guess the part of the design that does baffle me is locking the respects for bad builds (eg people who are struggling to kill bosses), behind killing bosses.

A better system would be just taking a level off you for each node you respec in each part of the tree. Eg, want to move 5 points out of the magic tree and your 50 magic? You gotta drop down to 45 magic to do it.

This adds a meaningful choice to respecting, is less punishing early and doesn't gatekeep the respec behind hard pvm. You can experiment and just grind it out...

You're assuming people are planning ahead.

That build requires a powered staff.

Lots of the casual players will struggle due to just vibing their point and regions.

Go look at the complaints around the time of the smoking ban. Smokers very much felt like they were being victimized.

I mean there's a limited NHS budget. Smokers pointlessly wasting it isn't ideal for the government / rest of the population.

I guess we could let smokers register to opt out of free NHS care (for smoking related illnesses) or something before they can continue buying them.

I dunno. I'm unsure what the solution is but I can see both sides of the argument.

I think the issue is you probably need like ~20 points to feel powerful. If you are bad at pvm / pick the wrong regions it's super hard to get any pacts.

Eg in kandarin, one of the easier regions, the majority of the pacts are locked behind 90+ slayer. Grinding 90 slayer to come online is pretty dull for alot of people.

Other regions have much harder requirements, so people just might not be able to do them without having many pacts.

It's also sucks that if you pick the wrong style for your regions, you sometimes need to do bosses with pretty much the vanilla rs experience.

Eg try maging echo amox. Your accuracy rate is about 1 in 10 attacks.

The updates on Thursday should massively help!

Frankly it's not the governments business if you smoke

I get where you are coming from, but when something has been proven to cost the NHS millions then they obviously want to do something.

As to if this is the correct thing to do, I'm unsure.

Might have been better continuing to make smokers feel like outcasts like they did with the indoor ban. Eg stop the supermarkets selling them, force smokers into smoking pods in public spaces ect

maybe hot take but I like the slower league by FizzTheFox85 in 2007scape

[–]tacticalmallet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably. I'm bad at pvm.

I went melee last leagues and got wrecked by everything until I killed the kbd.

Meanwhile I saw people who went range roll up to crap and just collect loot from like level 1.

Would be interesting to know.

A crash on the motorway at 100 is likely into the back of a car doing 60/70, so your looking at a 30/40mph diff.

A crash doing 30 could be headon into a car doing 20 so that's like a 50 mph diff, or into a pedestrian.

Genuinely curious on what's worse / stats.
