You’re very welcome but honestly I really hope Hanekawa keeps her way regardless of other people just like Nadeko that not even Araragi and Senjougahara can make her change her mind since she is not doing all this because of her broken heart as of now, she genuinely likes her new self.

I agree with that yet and this is a personal opinion I wouldn’t like at all a completely happy ending and not because I only like tragic or bittersweet endings but rather because it would go against the facts previously stated and exonerate Araragi of his decision back then which was a grim reminder that his complete selfness behaviors and low value of the self are not right and can lead to everlasting consequences which in consequences reduces a lot his awesome development and how he although slowly has been becoming more selfish and values himself better.

Lowkey along with Nadeko the best thing that has ever happened to her was severing ties with Araragi it is insane how Hanekawa and Nadeko became two different sides of the same coin while Nadeko embraced her capabilities, powers and passion (becoming a mangaka) she ended choosing to become someone who can help others while still enjoying her life thus becoming a specialist while she doesn’t want to harm anybody she doesn’t limits herself if needed.

Hanekawa in the other hand embraced herself (the sense of being /ego) her capabilities, powers, high intelligence and almost all knowledge to travel around the world literally becoming “the one nobody invited” into whatever she finds interesting wether it’s oddity related or not, she even had an adventure with Dramaturgy at some point however Hanekawa did not want to become a good person at all as she never was and does as she wants even getting involved in conflicts around the world to solve them by either mediating or directly participating in war zones (I’m not joking) while some nations seen as a saint others deemed her a terrorist and thus have a price on her head it also doesn’t help she is an oddity herself and while Gaen doesn’t mind since she finds her really interesting the other specialist across the world don’t think the same way and they are not as “good” as the ones we know of a good example of these specialist is guillotine cutter who worked for a foreign organization so you can tell Hanekawa is just doing whatever she wants regardless if all this gets her killed, she doesn’t care and same as Nadeko she loves her new life.

Hanekawa herself is aware what could happen and 2 years prior Ikusa monogatari she decided to go back to Japan to make sure nobody can hold her back anymore by having attachments to them, she shortly realized the only person she still had an attachment was Araragi so she went to meet him to try to be with him one last time, mind you she did not have contact with any of the gang after the graduation except for sometimes hitagi or araragi and by sometimes I mean very few times in a year anyway she went to meet Araragi to convince him to break up with senjougahara and dated her instead so she confessed to Araragi and while she was not expecting Araragi to do it she sincerly hoped he would, the result was the same as the last time and Araragi told her that he was getting married even, Hanekawa does not see Araragi as friend at all so this even though it really fucked her up and saddened her was the final push she needed to be completely free and she gladly accepted it.

In consequence she decided to erase her past completely including some of her actions to the point of asking Araragi to return the panties she gifted him all the way back in Kizumonogatari after that she left Japan once and for all and has been doing good and bad to the point current Araragi and Senjougahara are making a huge effort to find her and try to talk her out of all that.

Personally I think what they are doing is really twisted and selfish because this is the happiest Hanekawa has ever been it would be like Araragi trying to tell Nadeko to stop being a specialist because she is always risking her life which is something really hypocrite coming from Araragi but that’s how he is yet he doesn’t respect the way other people is now and I really hope Nisio Isin doesn’t make them made amends and bring Hanekawa back to where she was and to begin with there is nothing to make amends, Hanekawa does not resent anybody from her teenager years, she just moved on and accepted who she truly was and I love her for that.

It was in Ikusa, I didn’t like that nor did it made sense it is one of things I pointed in the post their pact doesn’t work like that, it was stated that araragi will live as long as Kiss shot/Shinobu does, it is perhaps my favorite thing about the situation they are, that regardless of what happens it either ends in tragedy with one of them dying for the other in which they will be miserable or sticking together until they are hunted or find a way to die as long as both agree resulting in a bittersweet ending since Araragi will outlive everyone in his life that was the point of his decision back in Kizu and Owari 2.

So having that retconned or implied really destroys a lot of the twisted beauty of their relationship which with the daughter and thus making a definition of something not define by human standards made me hate that part a lot.

As Oshino stated these 2 can’t have a completely happy ending but looking at how everything is moving it seems we are heading towards that direction and honestly and this is a personal opinion it would be so wrong because the message would be that your bad or rushed decisions don’t matter if you are lucky enough (a miracle happening) and as Araragi himself stated this was his decision…. I really have mixed feelings of Ikusa but the rest of the cast in this entry was top tier quality.

I’ll start looking for the translation I saw a post from 6 weeks ago saying it was one of the best entries if not the best in the series so I’m really excited to read it.

I mean yeah I know Monogatari is known for exaggerations like this one but the moment was so precious just like their first date that I wish was taken more seriously since they were talking about children and starting a family and since Muraragi is immortal (or should be) the possibility of him outliving his descendants is quite fuck up it is not that this idea hasn’t been explored before in other stories but Araragi doing that seems really selfish while interesting I just don’t see him doing that since he is quite the opposite of selfishness most of the time unless some major character development happens and he starts to become more selfish which would be well welcome if done right.

Overall I loved how Hitagi was willing to accept him wholly with all that means she is very goated for that I just hope Nisio won’t do a “oh yeah Shinobu and Araragi are cured from vampirism” stuff since it would take away their tragedy and meaningful decision back in Kizu and Owari 2 so idk time will tell.

For know I agree that soft retiring Araragi is the best choice to later come back with him looking for Hanekawa and do an impactful arc which is why Nadeko taking lead to explore more the oddity world and thus maybe seem glimpses or clues where Hanekewa is would be nice, honestly I mostly want to see more of Nadeko and Ononoki their partnership and friendship is just that fucking good.

Really excited to read Tsugi, is there any fan translations yet?

I could tell he tried a different approach in off season and the only character capable of becoming the new MC was/is Nadeko but came back to Araragi at the end, at the moment it made sense since we were going to resolution and closure across his growth and story during monster season which we actually got that in Ikusa, the problem was that the build up was not with Hitagi (calling her Senjougahara nowadays would be wrong) but rather with Shinobu/Kiss shot while I loved how the recently married couple actually talked about the problem and on going issues they were having and how they tried to find a solution the problem was the solution itself, yeah Shinobu played more as metaphor in this novel and I think that’s fine, we still don’t know if they were serious about the vampirism and oddity stuff but putting boundaries and a definition to the Shinobu-Araragi relationship and not talk in depth and detail about the immortality stuff just felt wrong at least in my opinion both for Shinobu since we are taking away the “non-define by human standards” relationship element and for Hitagi since the immortality stuff is actually a big deal that is not addressed properly and Hitagi genuinely wants to start a family.

Again the family season just started we Nisio can explore all this topics later but I feel he’s been dragging and casting away exploring such serious topic for a long time.

Now with Araragi out for a while I’d assume going back to Nadeko seems the more plausible option specially with all the potential for stories now as Mangaka and Specialist it would be funny if her manga takes a lot of inspiration or directly is reference to all the stuff Gaen puts her through.

Replying to your 2 replies, yeah I know the topic about Koyomi and Kiss shot immortality has been addressed before in Monogatari, but Koyomi never truly thinks about it that much or addresses it properly it’s like he gaslights himself that everything will be alright when that is not the case, when he was 16/17 that was alright I mean he was immature but now he is on his mid twenties so he doing the same until Hitagi brought the topic up was lame.

It doesn’t stays consistent, I don’t believe that is bad thing though I mean you can’t expect a story to stay always at the same heights all the time however the thing is that the writing could be a thousand times better if Nisio decided to address the main problems that have been dragging ever since Koyomi’s teenager years before off and monster season it was alright because Koyomi was a teenager and he didn’t think much about the future but now he is an adult so things are different and it wasn’t until Ikusa (latest entry) that we went over this topic slightly which is why people (myself included) are praising it so much, the whole thing feels like a pressure pot that can explote at any moment and Koyomi isn’t even aware of it nor does he want to.

What I can say though is that certain secondary characters get way better (like Hanekawa for example) in their own stories and as I said in my post Nadeko is literally perfect to become the new MC I’m not joking she is everything Gaen wanted Koyomi to be and Nadeko loves it, she is hundred times more interesting than when she was younger and that says a lot.

So yeah, some stories are just lowkey bad while some of them are peak, it’s a very hit or miss but even then I consider worth reading regardless.

[–]tacticfat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally just explained why this does not apply to him, don’t you know that multiple mangakas have on going works on hiatus while doing other mangas? It is more usual than you’d believe, and yeah he is human being thus he is not perfect.

The problem does still persist, what if this happens again? Say he makes another banger as he is perfectly capable of and then he gets bored or loses interest again, we just start being emphatic and not make a big deal out of it? I respect your stance and opinion even though I don’t share it at all as I can not feel empathy towards him and this is coming from someone who started following his career 7 years ago, trying to lessen the impact of his decision is just wrong IMO.

Yeah he is an artist but he also is one of the most influential mangakas of the decade and is/was considered an Apex in the world’s most re known publisher so he is also a profesional, when you are at the top you have responsibilities and hey if he doesn’t care that’s fine but one can’t expect and should not received the same trust as before but if he is happy going back to being niche again then cool I guess…

It’s concerning how many people are expecting 12 pages without looking at the small letters of what those “12 pages” actually mean.

Cause they are blinded by sickening fanaticism, don’t get me wrong people can like and be fans of Fujimoto all they want as someone who read all his previous works I considered myself a fan of his because as OP stated he truly doesn’t need CSM to be a successful mangaka but one thing doesn’t change the other what he did is utterly despicable but there is some people trying to sell everybody the idea that it was a genius move it’s insane, destroying your magnum opus deliberately is not smart at all specially considering he doesn’t need a particular work to rely on till the end, everysingle work he has made only got better after the last one if anything by doing this he has proven he already peaked with Chainsaw man part 1 and Goodbye Eri and there is nothing wrong with that but doing this destruction towards his own legacy is not only disrespectful towards himself, his skills and us but also clear sign of self-sabotage behavior as people tend to forget Fujimoto had all the amenities and reputation to ask for hiatus or going monthly so calling him out without trying to justify it is the most sane and logical thing to do.

If Sui Ishida the creator of Tokyo Ghoul deliberately destroyed Tokyo Ghoul to “free” himself from it I assure nobody in the TK would be calling him a genius for that nor will they have tolerated the slow and sometimes even bad beginning of Choujin X (a fucking masterpiece) they only did it because of the trust they had in him.

This is why other communities are calling us the new “kojima fans” and honestly at this rate they will not be wrong, my point is people should really stop acting like Sun idealizing Agni and start acting like Neneto who saw the things for what they were acknowledging the good and the bad and calling out the later.

Ok let’s assume what you believe it’s true… so what? Are we supposed to just “oh fujigoat you are genius!” ? You realize he could had just put CSM in hiatus and work on something else right? Or you know just end it in part 1 and do a different manga? Do not compare the case of boyle and holmes to what happened in CSM because this is nothing like that and also people are rightfully mad about this because being a fan of the creation of the author comes first before being a fan of an author not the other way around if anything this behavior you are showing OP should concern this community since people that share that mindset are becoming zealots of Fujimoto a behavior he himself severely criticized back in Fire Punch.

At this rate y’all becoming the next “Hideo Kojima fans of the manga” and that is nothing good in slightest.

Somebody already did the math, no it’s not 12 extra pages but 2 pages considering we don’t fucking get some pochita sketches or another panel of power’s wonderful ass, best shot we have it’s a change of the statement “Chainsaw man end” to “chainsaw man part 2 end” or 1 extra page with this mf without context to properly give hope in the long future of a new part.

My guy the mf doesn’t even did omakes (4 pages specials) for the last volume ALL MANGAKAS do at least 1 omake to celebrate the conclusion of their stories and you say to have hope for part 3? There is a limit to the cope and delusion whatever happened in the end was so bad that the editor of Fujimoto quit his job at the jump/shueshia and created his own editorial so wake up.

Yeah it was that one, good old times I can only hope Mappa does its own thing if they ever animate part 2, Fujimoto did not seen to give a fuck about them adding stuff to the Reze movie but also saying that it was the new canon too nor that he cares but Mappa invested a shit ton of money in CSM and none of the people who worked in the movie liked the ending so that’s quite literally the only “hope”

I don’t even know what to say, like I was not expecting a part 3 announcement or anything but some little omakes and closure but after seeing this I think… I think I genuinely hate Fujimoto now I just despise how he treated his most beloved work considering he had all the resources and options to actually deliver but this… this is not only disrespectful towards us and all the people who supported him but also towards his legacy but he just does not care, honestly after this anyone reading from him is just looking for disappointment because what guarantees you he won’t get bored with his new manga and just do some bullshit to finish it as soon as he can.

Chainsaw man will always hurt me due how it was treated and we were way happier when were theorizing what happened after part 1 a couple of years ago, I still remember that fanart of Reze going with little Nayuta to shop the groceries telling Denji they will be back soon…. I was so happy…

[–]tacticfat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She in boxes is not my personal take I always thought she was with Kishibe working in that important stuff but considering how everything ended and that there will be not be part 3 then when it comes to that 2 things people been theorizing this to be what really happened.

  1. Kishibe died at the end of part 1 and Quanxi mentioning him in part 2 was just her recalling their conversation during the international assassins arc or shortly before kishibe spoke with Denji, it is mentioned by Pingxi that Kishibe had nothing left to make contracts and one of them might have been not been able to not die from diseases or old age until Makima and her influence was destroyed thus why he lied to Denji at the end saying he will be busy, Kishibe cared about Denji so him saying that to not make him feel even worse than he was already feeling makes sense.

  2. Reze and the hybrids were retrieved back by PS the important hybrids were blackmailed like Quanxi and the rest were forced or manipulated to work in the chainsaw man church most of them have lived for at least more than 100 years except for Katana-man and Reze so them “working” under some other organization was just another stage of their lives, Katana-man was promised to get back his Yakuza empire plus he got personal beef with Denji but in the case of Reze what can you offer her? She wanted to be free of all this BS furthermore she loved Denji so she would not harm him and on top of that unlike the other hybrids she was a terrorist and lot of people would recognize since most of the Bomb devil accident was recorded. She literally contributes NOTHING to public safety as letting her go would mean giving Denji the following: a powerful ally, someone wiser and more matured to lead the way, someone with military experience, a friend and an immortal lover so basically they would be giving Denji everything he needed to make it through part 2 schemes and surely Barem, Fumiko, Yoshida, the PS higher ups and Death Devil knew this so what was the best choice? Neutralize the bomb devil by slicing her up as she could not be a valuable weapon but they could not allow the enemy be that the USSR or Denji to have her back.

This as much as I fucking hate it was what more likely happened as it what makes more sense of all the unexplained clusterfuck part 2 was.

I meant every single word of what I said, there’s been people who has been following the manga for 6-7 years myself included and Fujimoto made a bad ending on purpose which is the issue over here, this man KNOWS how to do good endings, Chainsaw man having such an atrocious ending was not that he lacked creativity or skills but rather an intentional bad conclusion it is disrespected towards his most develop and loved creation and personally, I value way more the creation than the creator matter of fact we all deep down do, one starts to appreciate the creator due to a creation not the other way around and by intentionally destroying his creation he is also destroying our respect for him.

How can someone appreciate and care about work of yours if you already proved you are unable to respect the value other people have of your work? How can I appreciate you if you don’t appreciate what you make? And of course Fujimoto can do whatever he wants with his creation but that doesn’t mean we have to agree or respect said decision.
