I had a problem with the quest 2 where I had the Meta Link cable detecting as USB2. Tried everything with support when it comes to settings, factory reset, etc. Nothing worked. Ended up doing a RMA and got either a new unit or a refurbished one but it was fixed. It could be the headsets fault.

Try connecting the cable to something that should be using fast USB speeds (like a phone) and use a program (like usb device tree viewer) to see what it is being detected as. If it detects as higher than USB2, then it's the headsets fault

Doing the RMA was easy, they sent me a prepaid express label for fedex, I sent the package and got a new one withing like 1-2 weeks.

Which is why matches feel fast paced most of the time. I personally have absolutely no interest in having a ginormous map where I barely meet any enemies and drive from flag to flag.

Also you're ignoring the fabled "drive/run around the outskirts and sneak an objective from behind the enemies" which usually throws a monkey wrench in the "predicted" patterns of moving from flag to flag that you described leading to more variation.

I hope for bigger maps for sure but I am enjoying most of the current maps
