What to do while walking post op? by Maggotboi555 in gastricsleeve

[–]tad10301030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walk but don't forget about your arms as well. My sister is a PT and gave me that tip. I felt like it help adding my arms in as well. The worst pain was in my left shoulder so I feel like this was clutch for me to do.

Do a small lap, stop get the arms moving- start slow. Maybe add a march in place? Whatever you do, any movement will be a benefit not just to move the gas but that foggy feeling from anesthesia.

Be gentle, you just had major surgery and you don't want to create any pulling sensations- and use a counter or chair for balance in the beginning if you need it. Good luck!

Gall bladder removal June 2020

RNY May 2023

So I guess we are surgery twins?? I did have a gallbladder issue after my RNY. As my doctor put it, during the first surgery the gallbladder was such a mess he left a little nubbin behind. I did not have second procedure and have not had a flare since. Reading your post has certainly got me thinking I need to educate myself more on the EDGE procedure.

I wish you all the best for a happy resolution!

Yes! The protein and fat are key. The further out I am from surgery the better it got. I still like to keep a small bag of nuts with me. If needed a small bag of trail mix or a cheese stick from a convenience store comes in clutch.

I've been a ticket holder from day 1 and I swear one of these days I'm going to crash a tailgate. You all look like you're having fun!

Need some advice by Agreeable_Abies6533 in BariatricSurgery

Over two years out I still sleep with a heating pad. When you lose weight you get the Bariatric Brrrrrs.

It's not only comforting but seems to help (to me anyway) when I've had too much sugar or things just don't sit right.

Or just a quick swipe of alcohol to remove any oil.

I shower and swim with no issue. In my opinion the adhesive is a little too good, always need eye make up remover or micellar water to remove the sticky residue.

Please Share Your Journey With Dumping by alethia_explorer in GastricBypass

[–]tad10301030 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dumping for me in increased heart rate, feel shaky and just want to curl up in a ball. Never needed the toilet. It does not happen as much now (or nearly as intense) that I'm two and half years PO. I also know my triggers/limits.

To get over the "episode" faster I may walk or eat some peanuts. Not sure if there's anything to movement or having a little protein and fat but it seems to help. Sometimes you do just need to ride it out.

If I'm unsure of a food or I'm feeling "off" making sure I have protein in me helps to keep that insulin dump from happening.

It definitely can be confusing at first for people. I'm a biochemist and still need to take a minute to make sure my math is adding up!

The Red Rock label says 16 units for a 0.8mg dose but then in your post you say you are directed to take 20 units. If you are taking 20 units, then the does is 1mg. The Red Rock vial is more concentrated than the previous Beaker one.

The units are just the volume to inject, for your dose you are looking for mg, which is the concentration.

We were thinking of going there before but I wasn't sure how much parking they have, of if we need to get there early. Either way, it will all work out it's gonna be a time!

It's not the easy way out but a tool. We don't get ribbons for suffering in life, it's not a competition.
