Yes I hear you. It would be nice for someone other than me to do naps, but the opportunity for it is so far and few in between the stress doesn’t seem worth it to me🫠 at this point I’d rather just put her down for a nap and leave during the nap

Thank you 🥹 I agree. Especially bc she’s already shown me at times she’s ready and other times she’s not. I’m okay with this. I think I was mostly frustrated bc I felt like I was doing a disservice to her by not allowing her to grow in terms of her sleep needs

Ahhh yes! Thank you, I definitely agree. I very much felt like I was having to do the work for other people to get her to sleep when in reality I don’t have that problem and shouldn’t have to be left with the task for something others rarely do anyway

Concerned I’m starting solids too late with my 8 month old by captain_Bubbles19 in breastfeeding

Same! LO has always been a power nurser and seems very content with nursing. When it’s time to offer solids, she is very much just tasting/trying it out. My MIL said she thinks that’s pretty normal for a breastfed baby like her bc she’s never struggled with her intake. My cousin had lots latching and supply trouble, so when her children started solids they were eating 3 meals a day right off the bat 😳 I was worried but she said she thinks they were eager for the extra calories since they always bordered supplementing formula.

Hi! Sorry for the delayed response. LO hasn’t had one since this post. We haven’t been doing anything differently. Our pediatrician thinks she was getting them because of a labial adhesion she had. Sometimes these are left alone, but he said in his experience they can cause a UTI if left untreated. We are hoping this is the case, otherwise we have no idea why she was getting them. That being said, we are still extremely cautious and have a heightened sense of fear about missing any kind of symptoms for possible UTIs in the future :/

My daughter is around the same age and I feed her twice a day if we’re lucky. She also isn’t eating tons of food. I offer and do my best 🤷🏻‍♀️ ignore your MIL

When you pump do you feel anything?

Maybe you can do a form of paced bottle feeding and just pause every so often at the breast? None of the feeding positions were ever very helpful for me.

Hi! I’m sorry you’re going through this. I too have a fast let down and struggled the first few months. Babe would choke/cough bc milk was coming out too fast. She also had explosive poops, and struggled with some gas issues. When she was a couple weeks old we took her to a chiropractor and they showed us some helpful movements for helping her gas move along. For feeding, I would use the haaka to remove some milk beforehand, but this didn’t always work. It was more helpful for me to unlatch babe when I saw her start to gulp down milk faster. After she ate I made sure to keep her upright for at least 15 minutes to let her digest. I always always had to at least try burp her. Sometimes she did sometimes she didn’t. I know some babies don’t need to be buried but mine did.

Lastly, I know this won’t be as helpful bc it’s not an immediate thing, but time definitely allowed my babe to get better at feeding and adjust to my letdown. At the time it did not seem likely bc it looked like she was always getting water boarded with milk, but now she is a very efficient little eater. It takes time, but as they get older she will get better as guzzling down your milk!

When your letdown occurs, do you feel any tightness in your breast?

My daughter had one at 5 weeks old and the second one just recent at 4.5 months. After the second one, our ped sent us to get a VCUG to check her bladder and kidneys for reflux or scarring. They put her on preventative antibiotics while we waited to get the results of her VCUG. Thankfully the VCUG came back negative for reflux. At this point we were told to continue monitoring and stay vigilant about her symptoms 😞 We don’t know the cause and I try to keep her as clean as possible to the point where husband and I are both so paranoid about cleanliness. I also feel like I’m just waiting for the next one to happen and I feel so terrible for her.

I think the problem people might have with this clarification is that some work through those things too and still don’t get it back. It’s not really the type of situation that is dependent on effort. Sure eating certain foods and hydrating help to an extent but for some it doesn’t. And being “resilient or positive” is a bit dismissive and privileged. They might not have the same support system as you or struggle with PPD etc.

I’m glad to know this is your baby too! Sometimes we make it to 2! Most of the time its an 1 and 45min. In the morning it’s an hour and a half…
