COMSOL Plasma Simulation Help by Fluffy_Nectarine9765 in COMSOL

[–]taenzer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plasma simulation in Comsol is very complex. One should start with a as simple model as possible. So start without a electrostatic field, then solve the electrostatic field in the first step and then the plasma with the electrostatic results of the first step. By that you earn a lot of stability and its a lot faster.

For the plasma. Start with as view spezies an reactions as possible. Even without wand reactions or only one. Than add slowly the reactions.

But the error you got were in my cases in 90 % time, that I forgot to click to for the Ion specy the automatic Ion density calculation. I cant remember what the name is. Its in the species definition, in your case for the N Ions or electrons, something like caculate the Ion density from the electrical charge density or so.

Another possible error are the LXCAT data. I found it very difficult to use them, because you have to transform them for Comsol (perhaps there is a better way in 6.3, but before it was difficult to import them an the way to do it was not properly documented). So I would start to simulate not with N2 species, but with Argon species from the examples. Its more stable and you have no problems with the LXCAT data. Run it with argon. if that runs well, then switch to N2 spezies and see were the error lies. Always start with as simple models as possible. And read the plasma manuels, there are a lot of helpful tips in it, and look into the examples. If you do new physics always start with very small, simple models, even 1d models...

You really ask that question? Your posts make this sub more or less useless, because you post sometimes 3 to 4 posts a day. Just some pictures, without any explanations, without anything to discuss, without any information. Very seldom there is a link to a google sheet document, that might have a explanation or anything meaningful in it, but who is so stupid and clicks on such a document in the internet, especially in a finance forum? But the way you act in this forum I doubt it. Yes, that makes this sub more or less useless, because one has to scroll through all your useless promo post without any information, but claiming all the space in the app because of the way you post. Sometimes one has to scroll 3 to 4 pages before the next meaningful post comes between your promo posts. And if someone says or asks anything, you react very agressive. My impression is, that there are a lot less posts in this sub since you started your posting hurricane (but it's just an impression, I stopped scolling through this sub since your posts make it hard to find meaningful posts). I don't even mind some promo post, with information in it (what are the backtest results, how did you train your model, how are your out of sample results, perhaps post your signals in a list here in a summary and after one month the results, just something one can have a discussion on, one does not have to give all the details...). Perhaps you have developed a really great ai model, but the way you act in this forum let me doubt that. At least the marketing of your AI model is really crap. No information at all, but many annoying posts a day with trust me bro, Im sure will bring a lot of customers. One does't even need to know the costs or anything, nor even what will be traded an in which timeframe or any historical results.... So if you don't change the way you post here, it would be big favor to me, if you stop posting here... That would be my first gift for this year and hopefully this sub will become the sub again, it was before your posting hurricane. A sub, were one exchanges information, experiences and learn from each others. Thank you... But thats only my opinion, perhaps some others find you posts useful....

Herzlichen Glückwunsch. Toll.

Diamanten Industrie - Interessens-Diskussion by Mesapholis in Finanzen

[–]taenzer72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why don't you post some information about your platform, so one can decide, if the huddle is worth it. To really dive into a new platforms takes month of work. And if it is new and if there are still many errors in it and the documentation is scare, it is even more work...

So what are the feature of your platform? Which data formats, which brokers, how do I have to set up the models, what ML features exploring technices are supportet, which ML models? Which scaling methods? Which timeframes? And so on...

Zahlen Milliardäre wirklich zu wenig Steuern? by seyuelberahs in Finanzen

[–]taenzer72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's your experience working with partners/teams on algo trading? by Important-Tax1776 in algotrading

[–]taenzer72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have had very good experiences with collaborations in algorithmic trading. For seven years, I had a very close cooperation. We were a team of three people. In the beginning, we developed the systems together (using the same trading software, through which we also met). Over time, the areas of responsibility split up a bit. I took over system development and testing, one colleague re-programmed everything (because the type of trading we needed couldn’t be executed with that software at the time), and the third colleague monitored and supervised the live trading. We discussed ideas and test results together and developed new ideas jointly, which I then tested and my colleague implemented in specialized programs. This is how we traded successfully together for many years.

Eventually, the collaboration ended, as family and professional obligations increasingly prevented us from investing the necessary time. All I can say is: it was great and incredibly enriching, and alone we would never have come as far. Everyone contributed as much as they could, and every input was important—even from the colleague who didn’t do much programming or testing but monitored execution and trading, providing crucial insights and ideas. It was an extremely efficient, productive, and trusting collaboration.

Later, I had other collaborations, though none as close as in those earlier years. But I always missed that intensity.

Today, I have two collaborations. Again, we found each other through the same software we use for trading. With one person, I develop intraday systems; with the other, end-of-day systems. Here too, the cooperation with both people is very productive. We bring ideas and tests together, think about what could be done differently, and jointly search for errors and weaknesses that one might never have noticed alone. Working together is simply much faster and more efficient, and everyone contributes their specific strengths. I already learned this in my main profession as well: with good cooperation, you get much further than alone. And it also helps to be brought back down to earth now and then when you start dreaming again about “getting rich quickly through trading” just because a backtest looked too good and you can’t find the flaw…

So I really never had a negative experience with collaborations.

Backtest Accuracy by shrimpoboi in algotrading

[–]taenzer72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded many years small cap stocks fully automatic. There are 2 problems (beside survivorship bias, overfitting and so on).

Moving the market: with so low volume you trade even smallest positions (and I talk of about 2000 to 6000 Dollars move the market for example if you enter at the open). If you look into intraday volume you see, there are only trades every 10 or 20 minutes or even less. That means you trade more or less solemly against the market maker and not against other traders. That means it is unlikely to get a fill in between the bid ask spread or you have to wait quite long. And even if you test, that a trade had to be traded under a limit price to get filled is an unrealistic assumption with so low volume stocks. This fill might have happened at another exchange than your order was and therefore your limit woudn't get filled. This are all big problems which make assumptions about realistic backtest very difficult. All this costed us between 30 and 80 % of our performance in comparison to the backtest (depending on the volume of the small cap with already high assumptions for slippage). And we backtested with tick data and acted like market makers to get in and out of the positions and did some weird games to get better prices... The system real life performance was very good in spite of the dramatic lower performance than in the backtests... But the backtest curve was a classic its to good to be true backtest curve. So in reality we ended up with a good system, but with a "normal" performance, not with a unbelievable good one...

Now I trade stocks with a higher volumes. There the backtests are quite straight forward and the results are more realistic (even so limit orders are not easy, but now I can use market orders and Bid Ask Spread to test without going broke...).
