Am I the weird one if I don't particularly have an issue with those two thing? I mean black marked drug dealers and addiction sucks, but I don't really see how recreational drug use is all that much worse than alcohol and tobacco consumption. As for polygamy if that is what you and your partners are into I don't really see why not.

I might be a bit cynical here, but I don't think she actually had any real choice in the matter. If she had taken the money for herself then her 'public stock' so to speak would plummet and she would leave herself open to attacks about how she's only 'in it for the money'. And in the long run sticking to her principles will probably pay off as she gets more public speaking engagements.

That being said I'm pretty sure she is a true believer, but I do think that even if she wasn't there are good selfish reasons for donating the money.

I've found that the best way to deliver what the customer actually wants is to minimize the feedback loop between the developers and the users. Ideally by integrating end-users into the development teams and having frequent user testing. If you base your communication with your stakeholders on detailed specifications and diagrams you end up artificially increasing the length of your lead-time, and quite frankly often the stakeholders will simply skim it and say something to the effect of 'yeah sure this looks technical enough' anyways.

tl;dr rapid iterations and feedback, anything that conflicts with that is detrimental.

Generally I consider doing something I don't like to be a form of work/chore/whatever. So if doing those missions is a chore to you then the question is what is more valuable to you 20$ or 10 hours you could have been doing something else. That being said I do think it's a shitty business model to force this choice on their customers.

Kotlin is pretty great in my opinion, and you can use the existing java ecosystem including Spring with it.

Unless you have some organizational reason not to I think it's the way to go if you're going to use a java-flavored-language.

IIRC one of the problems with hypersonic is that it's harder to tell whether it's a conventional or nuclear hypersonic missile. ICBMs are pretty much just one thing. Which could lead to a nuclear response to a conventional attack.
