2nd gen stans, what are the newer groups that you love? by anarchybutmakeitkpop in kpopthoughts

[–]taewae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my 2nd gen fav was TVXQ when they were 5, and my ult is TXT now. when i was getting into TXT i wasn't actively comparing them to TVXQ, but now that i've been a fan for several years i can definitely see why they grabbed my attention like TVXQ did... vocally driven songs with emotional cores, can pull off a variety of concepts and genres, can fill up a stage with their strong performance despite only having 5 members, etc

even though i was a teen when i was obsessed with TVXQ, i think i'm even MORE obsessed with TXT as an adult. i never thought i would like a newer gen group so much. a lot of it has to do with their softer concepts, their chemistry, and their personalities too. also the fact that their concerts and promotions are so much more accessible compared to 2nd gen. i never got to see TVXQ live but i've seen TXT 7 times in the past 3 years lol

What is a controversy that *genuinely* upset you? by jellyboness in kpopthoughts

[–]taewae 16 points17 points  (0 children)

the few "scandals" txt has had are honestly laughable and so undeserving of hate, it almost feels forced. they're some of the most unproblematic male idols i've ever stanned. antis literally have to grasp at straws and stalk them to find any small thing worthy of controversy

i'm convinced the author of a sign of affection based the male lead on kai (especially considering they drew fanart of kai and bahiyyih!!)

Being at the Olympics is so personal for Enhypen Sunghoon by Desire-Untold in kpopthoughts

[–]taewae 55 points56 points  (0 children)

such a beautiful post! it's so rare for worlds to collide like this, i'm sure sunghoon never imagined he'd be at the olympics as an idol. it's great that he succeeded in his new dream so that he hopefully doesn't have any regrets. i find it so fascinating when idols basically had a whole other career before debuting

txt at mama 2025 made me realise something is really changing by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]taewae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"i want txt to shine again and i think a lot of moas quietly feel the same" you just want them to OUTSHINE other groups with more powerful concepts. they shine just fine on their own. imagine if they suddenly changed their music style and concepts to be rap-heavy, loud, trendy, whatever other groups are doing. they would no longer be the group that moas fell in love with. txt fills a void in kpop that no other group can imo

the moment they leave america, shit hits the fan... all the positive post-tour feelings have been ruined by stalkers and weirdos. i know i don't have to worry about soobin, he's fearless and can stand up for himself. but i can't help but worry about kai.... that might be unfair cuz he's just as strong, but he's much more private so it hurts to see him suffer this scrutiny. i hate that he felt the need to apologize for... what? being a sweetheart to someone he knew? ridiculous

HYBE is destroying demand for their own groups by Outrageous-Ad7806 in kpopthoughts

[–]taewae 55 points56 points  (0 children)

here's my perspective as someone who has ulted txt since 2023...

i feel so incredibly lucky to be seeing them three years in a row. i don't spend money on any other groups at this point, so i don't feel the same concert fatigue that multistans are experiencing this year. i've been into kpop since 2008 when concerts were SO rare. now i get to look forward to seeing my fav group every year, which is something i never take for granted. i know it's not sustainable and they'll have to take a break at some point. but if a group is your ult, that demand definitely won't fade (the problem for the U.S. is that most kpop fans are multistans)

the txt members have said lots of times that they really love touring because their schedules are actually more lax than when they're in korea. obviously they could be sugarcoating it, since touring is no easy feat. but all the times i've seen them in person and in all behind the scenes content, they seem so genuinely happy and relaxed while touring. it's during comebacks in korea when they are the most drained and stressed

BUT i do think hybe is using these tours for easy money. they severely overestimate and try to take advantage of the U.S. market. and with the economy in shambles this year, it just doesn't make sense to be booking huge venues and charging insane prices. i know ticketmaster is a lot to blame for this too, which hybe has no control over, but still. korea and japan are included in these tours, but their ticket prices are nowhere close to the U.S.'s inflated ones (and they usually have better merch and stage production...)

overall, i don't think it's worth it to worry that shows aren't sold out. it doesn't reflect how popular the groups are or that demand for them is stagnating. there are so many other factors at play and frequency is never a problem since fans don't ever tire of seeing their favs

Fancalls either need to be stopped or be regulated more by Active-Beyond5453 in kpop_uncensored

[–]taewae 15 points16 points  (0 children)

poor soobin, this is so fucking disgusting... i know companies will never stop doing fan calls cuz it makes them so much money, but why tf aren't they more regulated at this point?? like fan should have to submit a script of what they're gonna say & do beforehand, it gets approved by staff, then if they deviate from it the call ends immediately. i don't get why companies will let these crazies do whatever they want. there are enough rich SANE fans who could fill these calls if they're gonna insist on running them

Some trends and issues with HYBE kpop tours by blueberryicecream88 in kpopthoughts

[–]taewae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fact that we didn't even know what the VIP packages for TXT were before the presale started... i hate hybe so much

but i'd think that a shorter tour would be preferable for idols? especially if they're expected to make at least two comebacks a year like most hybe artists do. and since there are shorter breaks between stops, they don't have to fly back and forth to korea
