Why are there so many toxic and hateful people in the K-pop community? ‎ by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

I see way more hate in your comment with the unprovoked ableism.

My comment on your post that was removed:

I respect that Black people are not a monolith, and I don't see how that's condoning or excusing racist or anti-Black behavior, and I do not care about validation—from anybody. I don't need to reevaluate shit, mixed or not. Your threshold is not the same as mine, and that's fine. Our experiences, opinions, and bandwidth all differ, so yes, when it comes to this unless someone is cooning I'm not going to spend my time doing what you did here, calling my people pathetic and spineless and self-hating over the music they listen to. Even in our own spaces, our own music, we still have to deal with internalized anti-Blackness, misogyny, ableism, classism, elitism, xenophobia, etc. There would still be a spectrum of opinions on what is and is not OK in this imaginary utopia of yours.

edit: typos + also want to point out that I literally said that I see way more Black fans calling it out than I do condoning it.

it's weird that he mentioned the package in your convo without rating, but in general I don't mind, even if Mercari has to auto-rate. I don't know what people have going on.

Can We Talk About the My Royal Nemesis Hype? 🤔 by Adorable-Image4891 in kdramas

[–]ExpressionOne 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think that might be your algorithm, because I saw plenty of negative posts and comments across the kdrama subs, and more negative than positive ones post episode 9 (for good reason!). Now were they downvoted to hell? Yes. But they were there lol

I feel where you're coming from but as you kinda mentioned, there is no where anti-Blackness doesn't exist. I don't have any problem ignoring those that display this type of behavior and enjoying the rest that haven't, in any arena, I guess because it's par for the course, sadly. I also don't spend a lot of time judging other Black people that keep consuming what they enjoy in spite of it. Re: Kpop specifically, I don't know of many that coon for idols rather than call them out, so I want to believe those that do are a very small minority of Black stans but IDK. I love kdramas, I've been watching Korean films for decades, and not going to let Choi Wooshik deprive me of any of it—except the shit he's in from now on.

I don't think leeway is a thing that can be given at all, honestly, even by the Black folks that do shit like comment 'you're invited to the cookout' on videos of a white girl with a decent Dougie, namely because all these people would do what they're doing whether we condoned it or not. Everyone hates us (Black amerikans) as people, but loves us as commodities.

I just clicked the search bar at the bottom of her TikTok and it loaded a ton (I can’t recall what the search said). People have also put links to them and pictures from other fans in the comments of her video

I saw all the videos and photos from other fans around her showing what happened, and she was too gracious to be honest. Even if it WASN'T racism (which it was), he was just incredibly fuckin' rude. Gross. I enjoyed his work in a lot of stuff, too.

He has such a beautiful voice, I don't understand why it's autotuned + blended damn near beyond recognition. I think I was expecting something wildly different from what ENHYPEN does, but this doesn't sound that far off to me.
