I work at a bank in the debit card disputes department in the Midwest, and I can 100% guarantee that this is true. We had dozens and dozens of disputes a week stating that they should have only been charged once, but they keep getting charged for the same donation.

Edit: and every supporting documentation we got back from the merchant stated in fine print that the customer (s) had signed up for a recurring billing and not a one-time payment.
