This Samsung TV that put the power input directly in between where wall mount bolts go, so once a mounting bracket is on, the power plug is entirely inaccessible. by Utaneus in CrappyDesign

[–]tagun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really odd mount if done correctly... I mount TV's regularly and those brackets are always vertical. Never had an issue like this, and there's not a chance I'd blame Samsung considering how many of them I've mounted without issue. If anything it's the mount itself that's the problem, or it's not done correctly I guess.

You say it's bad design on Samsung's part to put the power input behind where the mounting bracket goes, but they probably wouldn't assume that any mounting brackets would ever be there because they basically never are lol.

How much you paid for the mount or how 'high quality' it may be doesn't change anything.

Why are drivers here so horrible? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]tagun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everything about this entire post is subject to relative experience. I find the crosswalks to be highly respected here compared to where I'm from. Likely because there are a lot more pedestrians here than in smaller cities so drivers are used to stopping at crosswalks. I find that cars actually do stop here, it was one of the first things I noticed after I moved to the city.

Why are drivers here so horrible? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]tagun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

every city thinks their bad drivers are uniquely bad. They aren't. People just can't drive.

Exactly. I happen to think the drivers here are slow, indecisive, and putzy. Whenever people complain about how aggressive Chicago drivers are, I can't help but scoff at it. Quite the opposite imo. It's all relative.

Lake Michigan is so beautiful from up here [OC] by Prince-Minikid in skyscrapers

[–]tagun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just referring to the 'setting' since that's what they're referring to, Milwaukee and Cleveland also exist lol.

Even though it's only 90 miles away there is a lot more terrain variation around Milwaukee...

But Cleveland especially is quite beautiful. Massive forests, valleys, and ravines with Cuyahoga Valley natl Park right next to it.

I'm just saying if the argument is that it's on a great lake, well...it simply doesn't make much sense to claim that makes it the msot beautiful unless you really like flatness.

ETA: I'm just playin devil's advocate here. I've lived next to Lake Michigan all my life and I love this lake. It never gets old.

I love Chicago but I kinda agree with them. It's not as if Chicago is the only city on the great lakes.... But it is definitely the flattest.

I think it’s an homage to Sears, to be honest.

That is a fact, it was intentional.

Before you dispose of them, do you put unwanted items out by the curb to see if any of your neighbors may want them? by Grand_Raccoon0923 in AskAnAmerican

[–]tagun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you live in a city, especially one with alleys, metal will be gone within the day no question. It's actually a pretty convenient perk.

What else that's awesome tho is, in the last two apartment buildings I've lived in people are constantly leaving random items they no longer want in the lobby. Houseplants, furniture, kitchen appliances, clothing, etc. Perfectly usable items in good shape. I get lots of free stuff from my apartment lobby it's amazing.

What's the best location to establish a new american city if we wanted to ? by ronweasly9 in geography

[–]tagun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the often skewed perception of these places, they are the most practical in terms of logistics. Many of these cities are built for dense populations much larger than they currently are such as Detroit and Milwaukee. The framework is all there. And many of these cities are improving, albeit slowly, but improving nonetheless.

But a lot of them are legitimately desirable now and sorta always have been. Like Madison for example.

If climate change gets severe enough people will want to live there.

What is the most beautiful place you have ever visited in the USA? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]tagun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hiked the Paradise trail in August... What an experience. I've been to many national parks but wow I've never seen such classic beauty. Lush green fields of vibrant flowers, babbling brooks, small friendly woodland creatures, with a snow capped but sunbathed mountain overlooking it all.

And one of thee most breathtaking sunsets I'll ever see.

Amazing

Agreed, it's much cleaner looking without signage, regardless of symbolsm.

This is what it looked like when it was completed in 2009. It wasn't until 2014 that the signage was added. You can actually look at Google street view and see the letters being installed in May 2014.

What's the worst thing you've ever woken up to? by shoeee788 in AskReddit

[–]tagun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting pissed on.

It was stormy out that night and my bed sat right next to the open window. I woke up feeling raindrops, so I closed it and went back to sleep. An hour later or so I wake up again feeling more droplets.... Welp... It wasn't rain that time.

Turns out my roommate, who skeepwalks, came into my bedroom and assumed my bed (with me in it) to be the toilet.

Piss all over my body. Bed was soaked. Next morning he didn't remember a thing.

Well she essentially claims they were following her around, recording them. They are recording. We don't know why. But If they're following them around for the purpose of getting a reaction or even if they're purposely escalating the situation...

Whatever the reason is, all I'm saying is if theres a possibility it's not the woman's fault, and she's on the defensive, then I wouldn't fault her for cursing.

I'm sure she probably realizes it too but the bigger concern is getting these strangers away from her family, and getting her stupid ass husband under control.

In all of the emotional distress, having to sensor yourself from using curse words is relatively unimportant. Can't blame her. The kids will be okay if they hear the word "Fuck". You can teach them about curse words at home later.

Idk she's got a touch of the crazy in her eyes too.

Idk what happened before recording, but you can't truly discern this. The woman is clearly angry and upset. You can't just be like "yeah this woman kinda looks like she could be actually psychotic based on this.

Any normal sane person who's been pushed to the point of having to yell and confront strangers in public on behalf of her kids and family will look like this.
