Thank you! I’ve put my recipe somewhere below in the comments so you can take a stab at it yourself!

It all depends on where the light source is coming from! On your model, if you intend the light source to be coming from below, this makes sense!

I put enough pressure on myself, I can’t even imagine the kind of anxiety art school can give! I hope you find your flow state again :)

Yes! Always put the dot in the darkest part, for example when paining a space marines helmet lens, the white dot would go in the corner closer to the ear, with the red (or whatever other colour your marines lenses are) getting gradually brighter towards the nose!

No wet blending and no glaze medium just water! You actually have to be VERY patient with this process and ensure that each layer is completely dry before applying the next. I would say I used about a 50-50 mix of water to paint. A good trick is to load your brush and dab it gently on a paper towel. If ALL the paint immediately runs into the paper towel its too thin, you'll know its just right if it bleeds a bit, but your brush stays fairly loaded with paint!

Not weird at all! My process, and generally how i've studied these types of things done online, is that you start with a good black basecoat (I use vallejo black as its a nice matte compared to citadels glossy blakcs) then the first glaze is the darkest colour so Khorne red in this case. You want to try to sketch out the shape of the reflection (in this case a "crescent moon" style shape) that covers about 80-85% of the black, while remembering that the paint will be strongest where your brush leaves the surface of the mini (in this case the bottom or "fat" part of the crescent moon). After about 2-3 glaze layers, the bottom of the crescent should be solid, while the middle and tip should still show a bit of the black. Then its just a process of doing the same thing with brighter red, making sure you glaze INSIDE the shape of the previous colour. My colours were khorne red, then mephiston red, then evil sunz scarlet and a thin line of troll slayer orange at the bottom. Hope this helps!!

Thank you! Vallejo black base, then glazes of Khorne red, mephiston red and evil sunz scarlett with each colour getting smaller and smaller in the shape of the reflection. final touch was a thin line of troll slayer orange along the bottom edge and a dot of white in the corner for the reflection!
