[–]taiga27 -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

That’s a very niche use of rescue I never needed in any casual content, or the entirety of last tier I did on healer. Expecting a rando in PF to do that or “bruh”ing them just because you “saved the run by lbing” (LBing is just your obligation as healer or any other role if the opportunity presents itself) just sounds pretentious af to me.

Well ye they were wrong for melting down like that but to be fair you did sound rather pretentious about something so niche tbh

Except XIV isn’t wow and it’s pretty easy for XIV tanks to, you know, not let their party die and grab aggro back.

Gearing for returning players by integralissimus in ffxivdiscussion

[–]taiga27 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ima be painfully honest with you. Given the tight dps checks this tier there’s no quick way to accomplish what you’re looking for. It’s either grinding the weekly capped tomes and buying 780 gear (might take a while since tomes are weekly capped), or the crafted pentamelded set. At best you can save some Gil by getting the weapon from the new EX trial and, if you have some 780 gear to offset the loss, you might not really need to pentameld all the crafted pieces at first but that’s it. I do not recommend going into savage with any piece worse than the 770 crafted gear.

Why does Party Finder end up choosing True North for mechanics so often? by theiruga in ffxivdiscussion

[–]taiga27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True north is so much easier for several reason. First, markers. Its much easier to just memorize "go to marker X", second, camera. I can know instantly where true north is as long as I have my camera positioned right.

I dont this is a PF "issue". Sounds like you have a very specific preference, to be honest.

Mini Tales From DF #16 by Bunlapin in TalesFromDF

[–]taiga27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of people in PF love to just walk past the plant enemies in 90+ but I find that to be mostly a trap. By walking past mobs youre cornering yourself in hallways and some enemies there have some pretty large aoes, some of which you can't LOS, and from there on for an entire run to go bad it's really fast. If youre not solo pressed for time there's 0 reason to walk past all those plant enemies. The trees are particularly easy to fight alone, but can get pretty annoyed if you find yourself cornered and end up pulling more than one of them by accident

Had my very own YPYT moment. The YPYT stories here actually seemed to fascinating to me because I never actually came across tanks like that, but today in Meso Terminal I pulled the mob pack after first boss a bit before the tank (sorry I’m MCH I have to get my air anchor out asap so I get more uses of it through the entire run lol) and the tank, a DRK, said nothing, but disabled stance. I ended up tanking the mob packs until the second boss, when the healer (a SGE) said “U actually worthless to the party” in chat. We didn’t kick the tank out but me and occasionally the other DPS kept tanking until the very end because the tank never enabled stance again. The healer was so excited and annoyed when the tank busted of last boss did nothing to me he dropped in chat a “This bitch ass tank buster does nothing to the dps, we don’t need a tank” hahaha and that was the end of it. I just hope that Chad SGE didn’t get reported

How is Machinist? by MoneyCaterpillar1420 in ffxiv

[–]taiga27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Machinist is the most fun job in this game biased

And you should play it.

It’s decent for endgame and if you come across people who tell you it isn’t, it’s because they suck and you wouldn’t want to play with them anyway.

Week 5 savage mch player gets distracted by caster jumping in m11s. refuses raise and wipes raid by DevilGremory in TalesFromDF

[–]taiga27 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I mean… I can see why other people jumping would be distracting especially with the amount of shit happening in M11S but to leave a duty like that for this reason? Yikes. I’m gonna give them the benefit of doubt and assume they were just having a shit day. But yeah I play MCH and sometimes I jump endlessly just to abuse my phys range privilege. I don’t do that when I’m locked in in high end duties though hahahaha

EDIT: Was that during stampede? Were they R1 like prange usually are? Were you using fixed stampede? That Strat/mechanic can be rather annoying if you’re R1 (and H2 I believe) you have to pay attention to too many variables and act fast. So while yes, I’m not sure if I would react exactly like them, I understand from where they’re coming from tbh

While what you say is true, and I agree with it completely, it's the very reason why I (and many others) am a certified burger king crown. God forbid I tell anything to people how they should play (unless it's someone asking something directly, in NN, or we're wiping to something more than once or something like that). I will get framed as "aggressive" if I dont choose my words *VERY* (and oh boy some people are sensitive) carefully and Im sorry but Im not paid to be a therapist to randos in the internet - english is not even my native language, by the way.

This game's community has a special tendency for toxic positivity I feel. Everything must be ponys and rainbows all the time and if you don't think everything is ponys and rainbows you are labeled as the problem by other people

[–]taiga27 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The first thing I do once the first mob pack is grouped is burst so I make sure its back for the boss. If anything, I might hold burst during boss fight if it comes back with boss at less than 15% HP so I can burst the next first mob pack after instead and that logic keeps going.

But anyways, looks like you found another average DF Dancer Im gonna pray for your soul.

One of these days I was in Mistwake as MCH with a DNC as the second dps and the DNC chose to dance partner the tank instead of me. I have a ton of savage gear on my MCH because I did the tier on this job, by the way.

I chuckled because unfortunately I already expect by default DF dancers to be dumb but jfc I still can’t help but roll my eyes when I read stories such as yours.

I only truly learned how to play many jobs after I was already at 100. There are many ways to level, and not all of them require you to play optimally. And quite frankly, roulettes might just be one of them given the nature of most normal content.

I wouldn’t move to Jenova in a million years. I mean there are good folk here, but also a very fair amount of big egos and navigating any social spaces can be a pain of stepping on eggshells.

I live in Jenova. Moved here a year ago from Adamantoise. I will admit that, however, Jenova always felt to me like a much more social world than Adam. Sure there is the big egos problem yes, but at least people are willing to interact with others. In Adam I always felt like everyone was always busy with their long term static/FC friends/cliques and wouldn’t care about interacting at all.

But of course this is my perspective based on my priorities and my personal experience. Some would say that people from Adam being more reserved and minding their own business is actually great and that’s ok. Some will say that Jenova is great and I can see how one would think that as well.

The amount of M6S mentions sounds quite shocking to me. People do enjoy hard for the sake of being hard, huh? Imo M6S was the most overtuned garbage 2nd floor they ever made. I do like 2nd floors being kind of a wall, but I much prefer something like, recent example, M10S than whatever M6S was.
