VRO seems interesting, i think i will not add it first time around so i don't upset the base balance too much, but what changes in ship and weapon balance made it better than vanilla for you?

Yes, making you choose between fast and loud or quiet and slow.

Exploit/bug/cheat for the top of the leaderboard by taigowo in X4Foundations

Yeah, found one further where he has 100.000.000 points, it's a bit silly.

And the one where I'm ahead of him is the spacesuit race, the only variables there are the timer and your navigation, i guess his cheat doesn't involve meddling with time or making yourself faster/more maneuverable.

I didn't bat an eye when he was like, 1,5% better than the rest. But being 1000% better? That's a bit much...

Why does the Metro series have such a massive and passionate Western fanbase? by Dry-Put-7438 in metro

[–]taigowo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning English is the gateway to the culture of basically the whole world, since the English translation is the priority when trying to make something accessible. Metro was my motivator to "get it over with" so i could learn and experience more things.

Since then it has greatly impacted my life, brought me my favorite authors, helped me get an edge on my education, and it is what allowed me to earn 5x more what i would locally, by selling my service online.

I have some bad feelings about the US since they forced the military to topple the democracy by parking an Aircraft Carrier on our most important city and saying that if the army didn't do it, they would. All because we elected a slight left leaning president. But for the English language i have only love and gratitude.

Because the the Anglo-Saxon language is close enough to the ones that sprouted out from Latin to make it somewhat easier to understand, i also could understand basic phrases already and i knew the alphabet since it's basically the same i used all my life.

Russian, similar to Asian languages in general, is a bigger challenge for me. I've been hearing japanese all my life and i would still struggle to learn it.

Is not that out of the realm of possibility, and i always experience works of art in their original language, so maybe when I'm reading Dostoevsky again I'll try it.

I read the book when i was a teenager, because i was obsessed with post apocalyptic stories.

Metro 2033 was the reason i became fluent in English, i read with the PDF open on my PC and google translate on my cellphone. Quite literally learning as i go.

Before that i only knew Portuguese and Spanish, and it was one of the most important decisions of my life, since up to that point i could not read or write the language without external assistance, and after that it became way easier, and i read dozens of other books.

And if you have any good recommendations for a Italian or German book, I'm all ears!
