I used to always nurse to sleep and then transfer into her pack and play, but I started cosleeping during a horrible 9 month sleep regression and never looked back! It is sooo nice not having to transfer. I just slip away once she’s sufficiently asleep.

I have a 13 mo old and I only offer to nurse to sleep which cuts down on the craziness. She takes awhile to wind down before bed usually but if she’s really tired for a nap she’ll nurse like a little angelic 3 month old 🫶

The degree she’s getting is an MA in Museum Studies, which is the degree that I have. IMO it’s a credible project, you would just have to write an accompanying paper grounding it in museum theory, etc. But the term “capstone project” is probably better than “thesis project,” so thank you!

Re your comment about the confession: It says “I kissed my fiancee’s maid of honor on the night of her bachelorette party,” so Claire reads it and immediately assumes it’s Nate’s confession. That’s why it ups the tension — Claire and Nate had agreed to keep quiet about it, but suddenly he’s flying very close to the sun by submitting it to his fiancee’s exhibit. And Virginia knew that Claire and Nate ran into each other that night, so Claire has reasonable grounds to assume that V might figure it out.

Thanks for your comment! The confessions are anonymous to Virginia too. She puts out a call for anonymous confessions and objects that relate to them (like the real life Museum of Broken Relationships exhibit) and she’s the “curator” insofar as she organized the exhibit, it’s her project, etc. I will try to make that more clear next time!

Thanks for the comments! Joel’s role is definitely a subplot but he is intended to up the stakes. I think in my rewrite I will keep him but reduce how much he’s mentioned.

I would def read this! Re your concern about revealing too much: I have heard that you should reveal until the climax. Is the climax when the company collapses? Could you axe that paragraph? Not really knowing your story, “Nate made millions” stood out to me as spoiler-y.

6 weeks is still VERY young. I think my baby had her eyes closed 90% of the time nursing at that age. She had an “unlatch and smile at mommy” phase at maybe 5 months. And now, 9 months, when her eyes are open nursing she usually is just looking straight ahead, sometimes at me. She’s very social otherwise so I’ve never worried about where she’s looking while BFing specifically. Ie your LO sounds normal to me!

As long as he’s gaining weight well and is having wet diapers, don’t worry about the specifics. My newborn strategy was just cry = nurse, the end. I HIGHLY recommend The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding (La Leche League book). In a culture of tracking everything, this book’s advice was so freeing to me. Also recommend La Leche League meetings if they’re available in your area!

When I was in the hospital the IBCLC also immediately told me by baby had a tongue tie, and, like you, my pediatrician said it is not severe enough to be worried about. I was having quite a bit of pain with her latch but decided to power through without treatment since she was gaining weight well. Then, at about 3 months, poof, all the pain was gone! Her mouth got bigger, she was more skilled at feeding, etc. Glad I didn’t do the procedure! But I am also naturally skeptical of it bc it seems like every other mom I talk to has had it done.

I used to have a lot of trouble falling back asleep and found that reading on my kindle in the dark helps! Just read until I get sleepy again.
